My husband and I stayed after our wedding and we were upgraded at check in. Everyone in the hotel was so wonderful and our room (517) was beyond beautiful! We will only be staying at the Bowery from now on!

Great staff, who made arrangements to accommodate our luggage and get us checked in early. We had a great room on the 12th floor with nice view. The room was much bigger and brighter than I expected for a typical NY hotel room.

Terrible value for money. The room is small with a tiny closet, everything is old, scruffy, the bathroom is very average, toilets in the same space as the shower, one poor old sink. Towels are super think and very small. Dirty / not clean. I had a lot of luggage when I checked in, no one helped me carry it to my room, not even the staff that were in the elevator with me. The room is SO SMALL. I had an in-room massage (there is no spa so that's the only way to have a massage) and the poor guy couldn't find room to put his massage table as there was no space for it! No breakfast room.

The only thing that was great were the views. We were staying in a corner room on the 12th floor and the views were spectacular. That and the bed which was comfortable.

The doors into the halls have no soundproofing which means zero privacy and trouble sleeping. Likewise, the windows are original. On a low floor near public areas, you’ll hear every drunken shriek and guffaw until very late. On a high floor, you’ll hear street noise as if your window is open. At 800/night, the windows should be insulated. My first night’s complaint was ignored. A senior staff person did move me after I sent a note to booking.com. The Mercer, close by and not much more is way way better. Finally, while the teddy bear on the bed is cute, it’s likely been on the floor a lot. Now it’s on your pillows.

The public areas on the first floor are transportive. One walks into a luscious environment of 100+ years ago. The Italian restaurant in the hotel is very good. Room service is quick.

I get that this is a classic Hotel, but the dingy elevators hallways and Bahr we’re not pleasant. I didn’t like feeling my way down the hallways. The bar furniture didn’t look classic. It looked worn, faded and needing replacement. One of the lights in the room didn’t work. It was pretty noisy up till about 12:30 AM but I guess that’s the location windows didn’t really block out the noise.

Very good location and pleasant staff. I did like that there were ample plugs, including by the bedside, but the desk and desk chair. We’re not really conducive to work.

I was charged an additional $100 on my credit card for a heavy room key tassel that I did not take and was returned upon checkout to the front desk with an addition guest fob. Highly unorganized. And quick to charge for their mistake. Very upsetting. For cleanliness- after the room cleaning service, what seemed to be fresh clean white towels hanging in the bathroom. There was a towel that had brown residue on it, like it hadn’t been washed.

I liked the snacks and waters placed in our room daily after cleaning service. Room was always very clean after cleaning service.

cleanness, too expensive for the service, the menu very poor, the room has no dressing we stayed for 10 days and had to add a rack in the room and upgrade our king room to a bigger one paying more, no place for the toiletries in the bathroom we asked to add a little bedside table but then not easy to move as the bathroom very small. After 10 days the reception kept asking my name to check the room number … I mean I know it is a detail but usually after the first days they welcome you by your name not the opposite in a 5 stars hotel! there is no outside….

room’s cleaning must be improved: maybe it’s fine for guests that stay one night or two, but we stayed one week and I bet they never used a vacuum to remove hair (mine are very long) or dust!

there was a dog in the room next door that barked non stop for hours on late evening. It was very annoying and noisy. The dog clearly had anxiety about being left alone in the room which was sad but a dog with issues like that should never be allowed to be left alone. also - the owners (who were called and informed of the situation by the staff) should have been asked to return to the hotel and quiet the dog

Room was not ready upon arrival. Room was a bit dirty and older than expected. Staff had left dirty cleaning cloth in bathroom. Fun scene in evening very hip and cool but all and all very “dark” Left for the entire day, came back at 4:30 to take a nap and room was not cleaned yet. Tried yo get an expresso drink in the am and was told I had to go to the restaurant. I just wanted to sit in the casual area and do some work.

The room displayed on the pictures was completely different from what we got. There was a nice lounge area with a sofa on the puctures which the room didn't have and when we complained we were just told that we couldn't expect the room to look like the pictures!!!
