How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Room rates were a little inflated
We have already rated this hotel with trip advisor we loved the communal lounge with complimentary coffee and purified chilled water. The bedding was good quality and the bathroom was just what you would need for a short stay. The hotel was a quiet oasis in the middle of Manhattan. They also allowed us an early check in Would love to use this hotel again should the opportunity arise.

The "livingroom" with coffee and vending machines on floor 2. Would have used it if on ground level with entrance/exit, but the inconvenience of having to stop on another floor made me skip it.
The location was perfect, close enough to everything, but not too close, so it was quiet. The water stations on the floors are a great convenience, we used them every day.

No microwave or small fridge in room. Luckily friends has a kitchenette so I could use it, but a little inconvenient. Staff messed up check in. Used my address with friend’s credit card. Troubling

Coffee & tea facilities in the bedroom were disappointing. Limited supply of pods/milk & not pleasant to drink.
Perfect location for Radio City Hall. Comfortable clean bedroom/bathroom, hotel was immaculately clean. Friendly, helpful & accommodating staff. Water station & refillable bottles.

The room, while not large, was very clean and well laid out, and everything I needed was there and easy to access, e.g. reading lights, plugs, tables, hooks for towels in bathroom. Loved the CO Bigelow products! The purified water on each floor and the coffee area also excellent. Fantastic location for walking to Central Park, theater district, Lincoln Center. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would absolutely return here.

Rooms could be larger; brighter, flexible bedside lighting would make it easier to read books in bed.
Comfortable bed, dual flush toilets, water bottle station, gym, on-site washer and dryer. The lounge has a coffee machine that grinds beans and makes espresso, latte, cappuccino etc. Radio City Music Hall, the Today Show, Rockefeller Center and FAO Schwartz are across the street. MOMA is a couple of streets away and you can walk to Times Square. Easy access to the subway. Secure elevators enhance safety.

The rooms could use a reformation. There was a side chair that was stained and looked 100 years old. You have to ask for the room to be cleaned every day. There was no safe box.
The bed was super comfy (queen size bed), not for a couple and the room had a good size. Bathroom was good and had plenty of towels to use.

There wasn't really any place to put our bags, but space in NYC is always a challenge so the workaround is to unpack things into the drawers and closet, and tuck the bags wherever you can.
The best thing about The Jewel is its location - a block from Radio City, a couple blocks from Times Square, Broadway, the subway E train, which is nice because you're close to everything but not right in it. The space was roomy as NYC shoebox hotels go - it was neat and clean, the bathroom and shower were updated and well laid out. We also had a kitchenette which was good for breakfast combined with the coffee bar on the 2nd floor.

Maybe a roof top area to hang out at.
Location was great. Wish there was a bar or food in the hotel but the area had everything. Really enjoyed the coffee room area.
