It's not something I did not like, but more to manage the expectations of others should they choose to stay here. This is first and foremost a hostel, therefore there are some aspects you can't expect to get like staying in a hotel; 1. There is no lobby or staff present, so be mindful of your arrival time and complete your electronic registration process in advance. All communication is through Booking.com, so keep your notifications on. 2. The place is quite compact, so you have to manage your space efficiently. Also the are no lifts and the only stairwell is narrow, so brace yourself if you have a huge luggage bag. I would suggest using a bagpack to avoid this challenge. 3. There are no appliances like an iron and water heater, but there was a hair dryer at the bottom of the shared sink. And the toilets are also shared (amongst 4 units if i am not mistaken). The shared sink and toilet does have a built in water heater though, so that helps with the cold morning showers. With that said, it still doesn't take away the fact that the service was exceptional and the location is good.

Where do i start! The service provided by the owner was exceptional. He was attentive, helpful and understanding. He took the time to address all my inquiries with helpful information and was quick to respond too. It made the stay really pleasant knowing that you have this kind of customer support from the owner. On the place, i would say it is quite strategic. The subway is super close by, which can make a big difference when you are out the whole day. It's also quite near the north entrance of Central Park. Other useful things is the nearby supermarket and several places where you can grab a bite (my go-to would be the halal vendor opposite the supermarket selling lamb on rice, their version of philly cheesesteak and other varieties). All in all, it was a great experience for me, i would definitely come back if i visit NY again.

Just be aware that the streets may not look welcoming at night. We had no problems at all, but take care walking around at night.

Comfortable and easy to get from the subway. No problems checking in, close to a deli. Like the pictures. New and refurbished bedroom, hot shower, everything clean.

The hostel was easy to find and enter with the door codes. The rooms were very clean too. Staff replied quickly to questions I had during the stay and even gave recommendations for local places to eat.

We could hear the guests on the other side. The shared bathroom was an issue as it was busy for long time when we wanted to take the shower.

Location, check-in easy. It’s well for a short stay. We stayed 3 nights but we spent most of our days out. Perfect for sleeping. The communication with the host was good. We had already our trip plans but they can make some recommendations.

Bathmat needed for personal use for each room. I pointed this out and owner will provide this amenity. Wished for access to hot water for making tea or coffee but owner explained problems involved.

Excellent location. Inexpensive food available in vicinity. Close to subway. Price could not be beat. Reachable by public transport to and from LAG airport if one has the time.

① There are places where you can't charge the battery. ② They won't clean the room unless you contact them. ③ The nearest station is a little unsafe, so be careful. ④ The password for the main door, the room door, and the bathroom room are all the same, which makes me worry about security.

The stairs are a little tight, so if someone has any sort of assistive devices then I wouldn’t recommend it. Otherwise, I was very happy with my stay.

The area might not the most upscale or elegant. It's Harlem. Still has loads of personality and I did feel safe at all times. You're right in the middle of everything and it's totally worth it to walk a little.

The hostel in East Harlem is new, clean and quiet and also conveniently located near train and bus stops, making it easy to explore the city. Plus, it's just a short walk from Central Park, offering a great escape. The neighborhood is well-connected, making all tourist attractions easily accessible. I'd definitely recommend it for its convenience and proximity to the city's highlights and the local food. Also staff were very kind, attentive and helpful with tips and suggestions at all times which was really fantastic. They're really hands-on and they worry about their guests satisfaction and wellbeing. Really great people.
