Hopkins is a linear village maybe 7 miles long paralleling the sea. There are some high end resorts but local guest rooms predominate. Residents never failed to assist us in finding taxis, food stores or support services. The food was excellent whether it was consumed in a resturant, local bar or kitchen hut. Bicycles are very helpful in getting around. We found a really nice mix of folks. Don't miss the Garifuna music and food.

Hopkins is a small, rural town - one paved road that goes the length of the town plus a few unpaved roads. So, if you are looking for a small beach town with very friendly people, Hopkins may be for you. There is a good grocery store and several good dining options. Hopkins was a great home base for us for a few days as we explored a couple national parks in the area.

Peaceful, out of the way.
Peaceful, out of the way. Needed to rent a golf cart for greater variety of dining and grocery shopping but that is what our family likes. Very low key place. People are very kind and friendly. Quiet place to relax and enjoy the beach.

Hopkins Bay Smoky Bar & Grill (Barbara and Richard) were super kind! Maxim's gave us great deals too. Ella's and Driftwood were popular spots. Nice Cream was delicious. Rhum Shack at the resort were delicious. We could walk everywhere! We rented a car to get from BZE to Hopkins, which helped a lot so we could travel to other places.
Loot at Erik and Luis' Maayan Ruin/Cave Tubing on Viator (1:30 hour drive). I suggest Seahorse Dive Shop about 1:20 hours away for scuba diving/snorkeling, too.

The helpful and friendly staff made our stay enjoyable.
The helpful and friendly staff made our stay enjoyable. We always looked forward to the fresh catch of the day for dinner, especially the lobster Thermidor. My wife and I liked the closeness to the beach and pool and the size of the complex which was only 19 three unit buildings, and the ratio or staff to guests. We went on two excursions, one to the Mayan ruins and one horseback riding in the rain forest. Both were well worth the trip.

Too expensive with very little to offer.
Too expensive with very little to offer. This is good for people who plan to just chill and not do much. Go south (closer to the Jaguar Reef area) for better waters and restaurants, but be prepared to spend lots
Edwin was gracious and helpful. Hopkins is a small community that stretches along 5? miles of coast. We traveled without a car so we were dependent on taxis and bicycles. Buses were four miles out of town. Edwin and local residents graciously helped arrange taxis as we lacked phone coverage. Hopkins offers a wide variety of housing and food price points. Our meals never disappointed. Like much of Belize we lived with the ever present dust in the dry season. We enjoyed learning about and experiencing aspects of the unique Garifuna culture.
We had a nice welcome by roy and anwers to our questions. Clean room, lovely place with a kind of gardent to relax. Common shower and toilets are clean. 1 minute away from the beach and bus stop, perfect location. Nice options for local food in town, we had the chance to be there on a tuesday. There is drums at driftwood bar but call them to know the rules. We came to watch musiciens and having a drink but we also had to eat and we had just finish our dinner in another restaurant..
This is a delightful, boutique-style hotel right on the beach. We woke up to the Caribbean Sea outside our door each morning. It was paradise! The restaurant here is high-quality, under chef Rob (be sure to make reservations for dinner!) We had delicious dinners and breakfasts every day. The staff are exceptional -- SO friendly and eager to help with any need or question you may have. There are free kayaks and paddle boards for guest use.
Great little hostel nicely situated in Hopkins, perfect for a few days at the beach or snorkelling. Emma, the owner, is incredibly friendly and helpful about what to do in the area. In case you have a motorcycle license, she can take you on a tour of the area on some hot wheels. There's a spacious rooftop terrace too, and the hammock up there will become your best friends!
Everything was great chef Rob and everyone on site is excellent, the food, the friendliness, did I mention staff is awesome. I couldn't be more pleased with my stay and hope to return to the beautiful city of Hopkins and no doubt I'm staying again at this Gem. Thanks again to chef Rob and his remarkable team you guys are the best
The room was perfectly laid out and very large. I loved the beach access to the pier bar. The bed was comfy and the shower was large. The food was amazing, especially the ceviche. The cinnamon sugar fryjack with ice cream is a GAME CHANGER, Will definitely be coming back and staying again. Shanel at the front desk was amazing.
I loved the staff! They were the friendliest people ever. They also have great food at the onsite restaurant. I went on a snorkeling excursion through the hotel with was AMAZING. I highly recommend. I also enjoyed my hut house (I made that name up) which is right on the beach. About 15 feet from the beautiful water.
We had a wonderful honeymoon at the White Horse Inn. We stayed at cabana that faced the beach. Angel and Levi were both amazing and very helpful. The location is beautiful and you can watch the ocean and sunrise from the bed. Air conditioning is a life saver and makes it very comfortable.
Great host, our cable wasn't working and Angel tried very hard to fix it. Loved the location of the cabins. Had a power outage one night nothing to do with the hotel. Angel was informative about the situation. We were glad to be on the beach with the breeze.
We really enjoyed our stay in Hopkins at Cosmopolitan Guesthouse. It's a few minutes outside of the village in a very calm area, 2 minutes by foot to the beach. The rooms have everything you need and the host was very welcoming. Definitely worth a visit!
Nice place with a nice and clean swimming pool. Kitchen has the most things you will need. To really make dinner the stofe is a but unpractical. You will need a lot of patience. Bathroom is good.
Location is great, walking distance to Hopkins. Grounds were nice and accommodation very comfortable. Food was good and we loved the lobster tail one night.
