Location was awesome for visiting Cortona. Also the hotel itself offers fantastic views from its location just outside the city walls. It was the best value for a hotel we had during our two weeks of travel through Italy.

I think Cortona lacks out door eating and calling cafes ....mind you I did visit in January but other cities have outdoor heaters so that visitors or even locals can enjoy sitting out on clear sunny but cold days. Not much option if any if you are wanting to eat between 3 and 8pm ... but finding most places in Italy in the small historical towns are the same. So make sure you either have a late breakfast or stop in time to get some lunch in! :)))

It is a very beautiful medieval city close at the border of Tuscany and Umbria. It is definitely not an easy walk city as there are not so many flat streets. But it is worth it!
From Piazza Garibaldi, you could have a very nice view to Tuscany.
You find few parking lots around the city but from there you need to walk few stairs to actually get in to the city.
The italian ice cream, of course, is unbeatable. I can also recommend Cortona Bistrot. I think I have eaten there one of the best tiramisu.
The city is worth for couple of days' visit but the surroundings are also very nice (e.g. Lake Trasimeno).

The food, the view, the feel of history, I loved Cortona. Cortona is very small, I came in once during a three day stay. Considering that it was 50 euro to drive in to town I would have only came back in for another dinner if I was with a group. Be ready to walk uphill! I walked all the way to the top and then made my way down to eat. Sadly I can’t remember the name of the restaurant I went to but it was tiny with a family feel and the food was incredible

Beautiful, romantic, old place!
Beautiful, romantic, old place! An ideal experience - away from the crowds and chaos of top destinations like Florence, but at the same time providing every element of romantic and beautiful Tuscany and ancient Italy in general!
The apartment is in the best possible location in Cortona. It is above the main square so you are right in the middle of town. The apartment is very big with 2 bathrooms, a large living room and bedroom. There is a nice breeze that blows through the apartment when the windows are open. There are 2 air conditioners, one in the living room and one in the bedroom to keep the apartment cool if it is too hot outside. The Internet worked well too.
Cortona is a beautiful town - well worth exploring right up to the top. We loved Dolce Maria - it's full of character, lovely big room with high ceiling, and as others have said, the best breakfasts. It was a special place to stay. Plus easy access from the carpark (which is beneath the old city walls), and easy to explore from. We felt very welcome. Next time I think we would save up and try to book the room with the terrace and view.
Jardoen who runs Casa Dresosti is an amazing host. Although it's busy in Florence and Rome, small towns and villages like Cortona during January and February are slow because of it being off-season. Jardoen greets you when you arrive and gives you a hardy welcome. Breakfast in bed is customary but my partner and I choose to sit with him in the morning. If I am ever back in Cortona again, I definitely would stay here.
Lovely apartment with all the facilities we needed. We felt like we were staying in a medieval home with all mod cons. It is quiet, comfortable and there is a view down to the valley. The lady who met us and took us into the apartment was very friendly and helpful - she gave us some excellent restaurant tips. We've been to quite a few Italian hill towns now and Cortona is one of the best.
Together in Tuscany is actually in the tourism information center, it's then very easy to get in touch with the hosts and to find them if needed. The house was very clean, comfortable and located inside the walls of Cortona, close to a free parking (and closer to a paid parking). WiFi much appreaciated: extremely hard to get any signal when you're inside a building/house in Cortona.
The apartment was very spacious and well maintained. The agriturismo is a series of old farmhouse modernized as apartments. It is very conveniently located at the bottom of Cortona. The best thing was the amazing restaurant. All the food was typical Tuscan and amazingly good. Great breakfast and very friendly staff. We had an amazing time.
The location, the people.
It was what we’ve always wanted. A home away from home to unwind. Toscana is always lovely, esp. in the summer.
Cortona is a new place that has captured our hearts.
Podere La Vecchia Fornace is a wonderful place to stay in. Near to almost destinations around Tuscany. We look forward to coming back one day.
Isolina and the rest of the family were so nice and helpful thank you!!!
The suite was very very big for a couple. Everything was clean and comfortable.
The breakfast was excellent in terms of food and atmosphere (best Tiramisu during our trip in Italy).
Great location in the middle of Cortona. Walking distance to everything. Free parking lot only a short walk away. Washing machine was very convenient. Check in was easy and communication was great. Would stay again and highly recommend.
Have been to cortona many times but didn’t stay in hotel san Michelle We stayed in agritourismo , however the hotel was wonderful and worth a stay beautifully kept old building with spacious, comfortable , light filled room.
Jeroen was an amazing host and went out of his way to ensure we our stay in Cortona was a memorable experience. His knowledge of the town and Tuscany enriched our stay there. Special mention to his house dogs Judy and Lucy
Was more than we hoped for. Great attention to detail. Great service from the owners, Christian and Silvia, who had many helpful hints about Cortona. An incredible location. Extremely clean and would love to stay again.
The old monastery kept its charm and authenticity. It is a fabulous place, with a spacious yard and a pool. The city of Cortona is a hidden gem in Tuscany!
Amazing! Coming from Florence this was an oasis! So fun to drive into Cortona! La Corte Di Ambra is gorgeous! Super close to everything! Beautiful room!
