Be very careful in Foggia station as you walk out, loads of not so good people waiting for tourists to victimize. Be careful with your belongings, my bag was stolen in split seconds. Avoid going there at night, outside the station is not a well lit road.
Bus going to San Giovanni is everyday and every hour.
Basilica of Padre Pio Pietrelchina is worth visiting. It is sacred, clean and really beautiful.

I love SGR. This is my fourth visit, and I never tire of it.
I love SGR. This is my fourth visit, and I never tire of it. The “new” church however, is hideous. The Adoration Chapel and Shrine with Pio’s body are beautiful, but the building itself is poorly label (as per directions), dead-ends all over the place, and the main church itself is beyond ugly. But, as my friend tells me, when I ask him how Mass was, he says, “Jesus showed up.” And that He did!

The highlight is San Giovanni Rotondo was the shrine to Padre Pio. I thought that San Giovanni Rotondo, was a going to be a little dusty town, but it's anything but. It's quite modern with new housing/apartments built all around town. There's even a small mall there if you need last minute clothing or toiletries. San Giovanni Rotondo has everything you need, including the "Padre Pio Hospital" across the street from the sanctuary, which I had to go to the ER because I sprained my knee. I was treated well there.

We were there as pilgrims.
We were there as pilgrims. Bus connections to Foggia everyday and hourly (on Sunday might be reduced). Buses to other areas, suburbs and towns. Some buses to other towns were inexistent on Sunday. A au flambeau on Saturday at pm. Few shops around (except for souvenirs). restaurants/caffes apart from those provided by hotels. Bus service to town centre which may be free to tourists. We enjoyed our stay in prayers and meditation mostly. When we travelled to Monte Sant'Angelo, the bus drops you near the Sanctuary. Wonderful town, views and more. Will definitely stay overnight next time

We had a pleasant stay.
We had a pleasant stay. Antonio who had a van service drove us to Monte San Angelo and picked us up after 2 hours and brought us straight to Sanctuary of St Padre Pio. We’re able to visits the places we planned to go. San Giovanni Rotondo is a very beautiful and special place. You have to try their orecchiette pasta.

There is great onsite parking for cars.
There are many rooms but no long corridors. The place looks new and is spotlessly clean. I was able to communicate in English and broken Italian. The food was excellent with generous portions. Good value. The location is very close to the Sanctuary of Padre Pio and Chiesa Santa Maria delle Grazie. It is about a three minute walk but all uphill and quite steep. A good counter balance to all the food consumed. I would love to stay here again.
The breakfast is very yummy. Our family enjoyed so much. It was a great morning to be welcome with the breakfast and the hotel staff is very kind. Made effort to get milk for my son for his cornflakes.
Special thanks to the hotel staff Mr Donenico. He is so kind, helped me to call the church to enquire on the mass in English. He has very good service when we check in.
Beautiful stay at hotel fini, will come back again...
The hosts (whole family) are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and gracious. We're treated very well, even pick us up. The room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen is immaculate and the breakfast is great and with variety of choices. The location is close to Padre Pio shrine and the bus stop is just outside their gate. Good value for money, worth it. Thank you so much, will recommend and definitely come back.
I have been a regular of Hotel Colonne since I started visiting Padre Pio in 2013 and I liked the proximity of the location, the modern furnishing ( I prefer the deluxe twin room ), the staff in the reception and the restaurant. When am with them
I only eat there more so now with this covid 19 pandemic- you just request how you want it to be prepared and it is considered done.
I’ve mistakenly booked the wrong date and Alihotel very kindly rebooked us a Junior Suite at another Alihotel - Colonne with not much fuss. Turns out better in my opinion. Bus stop from Foggia is right next to Colonne. Ideal if you’re there to visit St Padre Pio as everything St Padre Pio related is a stone throw away
Great location- five minute walk to the new Padre Pio Church. Very quiet part of town, yet close. Very helpful staff. Really nice breakfasts and hotel restaurant serves delicious dinners with home made pasta, served by very attentive staff. This was a great hotel choice while staying in San Giovanni Rotundo.
The room was fine. Nice balcony outside the room to enjoy a glass of wine on. Breakfast was included and was excellent- more than just a croissant and cup of coffee. The location in town was adequate- short walk up the hill to bus station and Padre Pio Basilica.
The reception staff were very accommodating and informative. We could keep our car on site for 3 hours after check out to allow visit to the Sanctuary which was a few meters from the hotel. Dining options close by. rey clean hotel with marvellous breakfast.
Is a family business operated. Even in the kitchen is all family, breakfast was to our liking various choices Italian way. We had dinner too it was fresh, and delicious. Walking distance to the sanctuary Padre Pio. Will definitely stay here again
Very comfy bed, I had a great sleep. The hotel is small but cute, I enjoyed my stay. I parked my motorcycle in private garage parking which was very convenient for me. The price is 12€ per night (a little bit too high in my opinion though)
Location near sanctuary is great, older hotel that could use some updating, but is clean and comfortable. Very little English spoken there, which could be a problem and they don't allow AC toll summer, so room could get warm in off season
The communication with the owners was fantastic. They were very responsive. It's a family run unit. They seemed very humble like Padre Pio. Their son Ivan (or Evan) was home on vacation and made sure our needs were fully met.
The director and his son are so friendly, the staff were helpful during the evening as well. the hotel is near to the church. Good dinner and good value for money
