Location is excellent - close enough to the castle to walk even w/a gimpy sister. Close to a great Greek restaurant. Our room was quiet and very clean. Beds were comfy and room was large. It is an old hotel but well maintained and breakfast was decent. Had a chance to try blood pudding!

The staff was courteous and very friendly. We enjoyed our breakfast. Our dinner at the Orangery was excellent. We enjoyed the area as the neighborhood was beautiful and the Inn was within walking distance to most everything (golf course, castle, town center).

The rooms are stunning and comfortable, really unique too. The food at the restaurant was excellent. The bar with pool table had a great atmosphere. The hamper basket was very good although only one croissant for my boys was not enough.

Lovely town! We were sorry to be here for only one night.
Lovely town! We were sorry to be here for only one night. We should have stayed two, as there were a few other attractions that we did not get to see. We loved the castle, Church of the Holy Rude and the cemetery.

Stirling exceeded our expectations. It was rich in history.
Stirling exceeded our expectations. It was rich in history. The locals were very friendly and helpful. There was a wide variety of restaurant options. Even the thrift stores were top notch. There were several options to enjoy entertainment. We highly recommend the Settle Inn (on St. Mary’s Wynd) the oldest ale house in town (300+yrs). We were very moved by the traditional folk music performed by the locals. We also recommend joining in on one of the free guided tours in the Castle. It’s a great way to get to know the gossip of the royals and renegades.

There is so much to see and to absorb if you love history and want to know where your ancestors came from. Essential: talk to people wherever you go. There is so much to learn from those who staff the historic sites! Dee and Trisha were great sources of info. See Holy
Rude Church and the connected graveyard. Wow! Always ask for the hidden or less seen places. The Stirling Smith Art Gallery and Museum is a quirky gem. (It has the oldest known football.) Things to remember: walking is great, but challenging. Taking a taxi sometimes makes you miss some of the things, however, like going through the graveyard at Holy Rude.

I really liked Stirling however the stress of being unable to access the Mar Apartment as pin to access was not sent and which we had paid for through Booking.com and having to go searching for alternative accommodation at 8pm was the most stressful and upsetting thing I have ever experienced on holiday. The owner was uncontactable although I tried to call her 20 times and sent several emails and Booking.com did not help just kept saying to ring the owner. The situation has become even more upsetting as both Booking and the owner of the Mar Apartment are refusing to refund my money. Will never return to Stirling. Will never use Booking.com again. Awful experience.

Stirling is a lovely area.
Stirling is a lovely area. The castle is really interesting but there is a lot of walking on cobbles. We are getting on a bit so found it a bit uphill and down dale but well worth a visit. 20 minutes drive from Stirling are The Kelpies and the Falkirk Wheel. The Kelpies are amazing and if you book a tour they take you inside, a must for any engineer. Falkirk Wheel is more interesting watching from outside but is an absolute master in engineering. Stirling town centre had a lovely shopping Mal we just found it busy and difficult to park.
Great hotel centrally located in Stirling, with restaurants, the castle, shops etc a 2 to 5 minute walk away, and only a 5 to 10 minute walk to the train station. The building is a large old historical hotel on the hill with views across the city and across to the Wallace monument, and the facilities are very good be it the restaurant, bar, or health centre (pool, gym, spa etc). Our room was lovely, lots of space, big comfy bed, good shower, great value for money. Breakfast was fab.
We will definitely stay again when we return to Stirling.
I booked with Springfields lodge as the hotel I originally booked with cancelled our booking.
I was fortunate to come across springfield Lodge which was nearer to where our family lived. The location was perfect with Wallace monument less than a mile away and the city centre of Stirling approximately 2 miles away with the historic Stirling Castle to explore.
Both Kevin and Kim were the perfect host, very friendly making sure our stay with them was relaxing, and sharing their local knowledge of where to visit or dine out.
The staff were as helpful as could be and very pleasant, the rooms comfortable, light and traditional. The building location is wonderful for visiting Stirling and of course the magnificent Stirling Castle. We spent 3-4 hours at the castle and enjoyed every moment. Alva Glen is just down the road from Broomhall Castle and provides a wonderful up hill walk and fabulous views over the surrounding areas. We really enjoyed our two night stop here.
The owner is so welcoming and obviously a superbly experienced host. From tea and biscuits served in the huge lounge (great views across the garden) on our arrival to homemade bread at breakfast. The latter was fabulous and so much choice. Laura was able to give us maps and information about the area and was very warm. 15 mins walk to town. The room was gorgeous with a small outdoor terrace. Free parking. An absolute must if you stay in Stirling.
located around 5 minutes walk from the centre of Stirling
Good car park with spaces
Excellent food
Nice room - bigger than average and a proper chair to sit on and the TV at a low level rather than high up near the ceiling which you find in a lot of hotel rooms. Everywhere was clean and felt Covid safe.
easy to find
staff helpful especially when there was a leak in the room caused by heavy overnight rain !
Right in the center of Stirling. It was a little tricky to find, but we made it and there was paid parking directly behind the hotel.
Our room was small, but serviceable. Comfortable, nicely appointed and clean. Updated bathroom. Room was quiet with no noise from the pub or the stree.
Breakfast was quite good. We enjoyed dinner in the pub, too, which was quite nice. Staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is a former high school building, it is big with many rooms, the location is excellent for access to the castle, the Old Town and the Town centre and shops. Breakfast is buffet style with reasonable options. There was a conference on when we were there so the staff were extra busy but in the main, they were very helpful. The room was quiet and comfortable.
The bed was amazingly comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean. The hotel staff are lovely and the bar area is beautiful. This hotel is perfect if you are visiting students at the uni. There's also a great bus link right outside the hotel which takes you straight to Stirling in about ten minutes.
The Golden Lion Hotel is positioned in a great area .. You can walk to many of the tourist attractions, just a short walk to Stirling Castle. We had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast was hot and served by great staff ... this is our second stay at this hotel.
Stirling is brilliant. The castle is worth a visit. Beautiful area of Scotland. Beds were comfy, linen and towels clean, kitchen had plenty of equipment and rooms were fairly clean and tidy. Place is OK to eat and crash, with other awake time spent out of it.
Fantastic location, not too far from Stirling city centre.
Friendly staff who are extremely accommodating.
The children loved the play area and seeing the horses from the Equestrian Centre.
The hotel is very nice and the staff excellent. Breakfast was lovely. Location wS very good for Thistle Centre and restaurants. However if you are going to Stirling Castle area - take a taxi.
Everything. Property was beautiful, well maintained, comfortable and well located to Stirling and surrounding area. Hannah was a wonderful host. We loved Finlay her son and Molly the dog.
Best hotel we stayed at while in Scotland. Room was clean and spacious. The staff were excellent. Free parking on premises. However, we did arrive after 11pm and left after breakfast.
Fantastic place to stay, easy access to all areas of Stirling. Short stroll to Stirling castle and located within Stirling city centre. They kindly upgraded our room which was lovely
The location is perfect to explore Stirling!
You can tell the apartment has been updated and modern.
The host did a wonderful job with communicating prior to arriving.
Love this hotel . Perfect for visiting our Local Head Office , plus easy access to Stirling centre etc .............. Staff are always friendly & Helpful
