Great place to be based in when visiting South Dakota. All parks and reserves are 20-30 minutes drive. Will need own transport to visit Black Hills, Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and all the quaint yet fantastic towns. Rapid city has great choices of restaurant. For Asian @ Thai Thai, for local @ Telly’s. Must go Sturgis, Deadwood, Hill City

Mount Rushmore is a wonderful place to visit.
Mount Rushmore is a wonderful place to visit. It has changed a lot since my wife visited here 32 years ago. It now has a museum, open theater and beautiful walks along the rock mountains. It is 30 minutes drive from Rapid City where you can find lot of motels. Driving is scenic to the National Memorial. Head out earlier to avoid traffic, they open at 5AM.
My second stay at the Grand Gateway Hotel in Rapid City, South Dakota reaffirmed its excellent value for money. Despite its age, the hotel impresses with cleanliness and upkeep, and the staff's dedication is evident. The rooms are cozy and well-maintained, showcasing the hotel's commitment to cleanliness. The exceptional value, reasonable rates, and friendly staff make the Grand Gateway Hotel my top choice in Rapid City. Highly recommended for budget-friendly and comfortable accommodation. The staff is accommodating and friendly.
The location is hard to beat. This was my second stay at the Town House and because I go to Rapid City to visit a friend that lives downtown just blocks away, so walking access to the downtown is ideal. I like the simplicity of the Town House where you can just open the door to your room and be outside...instead of walking into miles of corridors to drag your bags through. Furnishings in the room are a little dated but are clean and comfortable. I'm sure I'll be staying at the Town House next time I'm in town.
The room I was in was not very clean there was pee spots on the toilet there was blood stains on the comforter mental not just because when making the bed you turn the blanket inside out it won't make the stains go away I work at a hotel front desk and laundry is part of my duties if you was something with stains and it didn't come out you don't reuse it you put it in the rag pile and how hard is it to wash the toilet or vacuum the rugs
It was absolutely perfect!
The cleaning staff was very friendly when we met them in the halls. The front desk folks were kind and always greeted us.
Room was clean. Bed was comfortable.
We picked this hotel because it was closer to The Monument for a hockey game. I didn't know it was literally across the street! BIG score! Perfect area. Will be our 1st choice for a place to stay when we come to Rapid.
Hotel could use some maintenance... Pool not working, laundry facilities out of order and gym not set up. the laundry area had leaked into the hallway behind it so you had to walk through water on carpet to get into the ice machine room which was tiled. with wet shoes that is a fall waiting to happen! we stayed 2 nights and never did see anyone even trying to get rid of the water.
Everything. Everybody especially Patrick at the registration were amazing and accommodating. I never felt so welcomed . The bed was a plus. Clean and safe. It was good that the starbucks and bar were just within the building. Near other restaurants too.Its my family's second time there. I am coming back again with my kids. They never disappoint. Thank you so much.
Had an excellent stay at the hotel! The staff were very friendly and always able to help and answer our questions. The rooms were very clean, we had no problems at all. The breakfast was great every morning, and always fresh. The hotel was in a great location to get to all the outings for the day.
What a wonderful experience at this property. Everything was exceptional and beyond my expectations. The beds and pillows were perfect and I took advantage of room service for dinner time. The price was very reasonable and I would stay in this hotel again if ever in the area in the future
We were traveling back across country and this hotel was a welcome relief! Clean. Comfortable and friendly! Not every hotel we have stayed at I could say the same about! Would definitely stay there again. And close to all the major attractions in the area, Badlands and Mt Rushmore.
Location was central for sightseeing. Clean with good breakfast. We stayed here 3 nights in a suite for 4 people. Very roomy. We even did laundry. I would recommend this hotel. The breakfast staff were amazing in keeping the large breakfast area clean and supplied.
Breakfast available, layout of the hotel and multiple access points to the rooms were convenient. Very close to the city center. Has basic facilities like microwave, mini fridge, drink vending machine and ice machine.
We were happy to find this little gem. It was like stepping back in time. We had a poolside room with doors opening to the pool area. It’s an older hotel with lots of charm.
The location is great - there are plenty of amenities nearby so you are able to find what you need, and the indoor pool at the hotel was clean and fun.
