My suite was very spacious and well furnished. The washer and dryer were very practical and it was really nice to have fresh milk in the fridge for my tea. The pool is very nice too and the hotel is well situated near the waterfront and restaurants.

Very basic but handy for the airport - 5 minutes taxi. Taxis were lined up at the door when we were leaving before 7am. We walked about 30 minutes to a Woolworths but there were also some take away restaurants closer on the way.

FAQs about hotels in Brisbane

Sun-drenched & Leafy

At the meeting point of Australia’s Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, laid-back Brisbane is spread around the meandering river running through it. The river’s artsy South Bank is home to Australia’s largest modern art gallery, tranquil gardens and an artificial beach. Just across the river is the towering skyline of Brisbane's central business district, the location of many hotels in central Brisbane.

Nearby are the botanic gardens and Queen Street Mall, the most popular Brisbane shopping spot. There are more shopping centers all over the city, and the out-of-town malls include one in the Indooroopilly suburb by the foothills of Mount Coot-tha.

This green hill offers fabulous city views and has a planetarium, nature reserve and yet more botanic gardens. In Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary to the south, you can hug one of the lovable animals, while Australia Zoo – Steve Irwin’s legacy – is a good day trip.

Brisbane is a very leafy city and one of its parks, Wickham Park, contains the Old Windmill, Brisbane’s oldest building. To the northeast, the Fortitude Valley suburb is known for its vibrant music scene and Chinatown. Across the river in Woolloongabba is The Gabba or Brisbane Cricket Ground, and nearby is the bohemian West End district.

Booking.com has plenty of downtown hotels, and other accommodations near Brisbane Airport in a northeastern coastal suburb.

I love the Southbank area of Brisbane.

I love the Southbank area of Brisbane. It's lovely to sit at a riverside cafe/restaurant in the sunshine. The area has a great vibe and lots of eateries to choose from. I'd like to have a little more time to explore Brisbane better.

The weather and climate was a little hotter than expected but it was still enjoyable, It was easy to go to the Museum and Art Gallery and Westend shops a little way over from our accommodation. All of the people who we encountered in terms of service, hairdresser, cafe owners, supermarket friendly and helpful. The 50c charge of using the public trains and buses at the moment is also a plus in terms of costs of going places.

Brisbane is a big, modern, bustling sub-tropical city with good facilities, nice public gardens and good public transport (currently being upgraded, with some inevitable disruptions). It is relatively close to the Sunshine and Gold Coasts, with good transport links to each.

I found it a very dangerous place to walk around. i am a pensioner and the Hoons on scooters and electric bikes were terrifying me. As an ankle injury would ruin my life but the are allowed to roam streets at will with no re-quard for old people walking around. If it does not bother you then Brisbane is a great place to visit.

We have been to Brisbane a few times now, and as we live in a small place, we quite enjoy a big city for a change (but only for a day or 2) ++ we really like modern architecture and modern sculpture art fixtures. The CBD is nice and compact and the Brisbane River offers a nice alternative with it's River Taxi's which allow you to crisscross up and down and enjoy the sights from a different view point. Southbank is unique. We are not wealthy and so do not spend time in expensive restaurants/bars etc....and Brisbane is excellent because they have heaps of small Cafe's and pubs to meet our needs.
