Tomar is a very attractive medieval city, seeped in history. The Convento de Christopher towers over the city and well worth a visit. The Central Park is beautiful with its river and trees is a lovely relaxing place. Plenty of restaurants all in walkable distance of each other. Further out of town is a six kilometre aqueduct built in the time of Philip 2nd of Spain. A marvel of medieval engineer.

Tiny small place. Clean bedding.
Tiny small place. Clean bedding. Quiet. 15 minutes walk from center.
I had to call a few times to get a reply where the key is.
Kitchenette, but:
No kettle for tea, no kitchen towel. Onky one mug.
No bath mat. Bath towels with bleach stains.

If you take the trouble to walk around Tomar, especially the old town, it is a fascinating place. It has an interesting square where the locals come out to socialise in the evening. There are a goodly number of restaurants, suitable for all budgets.

Beautiful, historical town with massive Templar Castle up the hill. That alone is worth the side trip form Lisbon or Porto. Many groups buses stop for a day but it is a rushed way to experience this place. I think two nights allows for a better immersion into its history. Castle alone takes few good hours, not counting the outdoor area. Great place to slow down and feel the old energy there. Town has plenty of coffee shops and nice eateries. Picturesque river runs right through the middle of town. Totally walkable town with quaint, clean streets with plenty places along the way to stop for a coffee, ice cream or a tasty bite. If you are there on a weekend you might get a chance to get a picture with a Templar knight!

Do not miss the aqueduct on the outskirts of town as you drive in - I've seen quite a few and the only better is the one in Segovia in Spain. This is a double decker that goes for half a mile, in terrific condition. I'm an aqueduct fan and this was worth a trip to Tomar by itself.
But there's more: the Templar chapel in the monastery at the top of the hill above the Praca Republica is one of those places where, just when you are beginning to feel like you've seen enough church stuff, you go holy smokes! I've never seen anything like this!
The town itself is cozy and warm, and it's worth a walk around to all the different churches and along the river. You can see everything in a day if you don't dawdle.

Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese...
Nestled amidst the rolling hills of the Portuguese countryside, Tomar is a captivating town steeped in history and brimming with charm. Renowned for its magnificent Templar Castle and Convent, Tomar offers a captivating blend of medieval enchantment and modern-day allure.
The Castelo de Tomar, or Tomar Castle, stands as a testament to the power and influence of the Knights Templar, who established their stronghold in Tomar in the 12th century. This imposing fortress, adorned with intricate carvings and architectural masterpieces, is home to the Convento de Cristo, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture.
The Convento de Cristo, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a labyrinth of grand cloisters, chapels, and chapterhouses, each whispering tales of the Knights Templar's influence. The remarkable Cloister of Silence, with its serene atmosphere and intricate tracery, is a must-see for any visitor to Tomar.
The villa was amazing!! It felt like home, and the views were the best yet, throughout our three week visit to Portugal! The hosts answered our needs via text, within a few minutes! There was a wonderful varieto of local bread, cheese, milk, juice, and a nice bottle of wine to welcome us! I would absolutely return to this villa when we visit Portugal once again. The balconies, beautifully unique and fun decorations, and kitchen were impecable! The beds were so comfy, we didn't want to leave. Thank you!!
Excellent location, fantastic views, short stroll through parkland from the centre of town. Excellent choice of restaurants in town, we didn't have evening meal at hotel on this occasion as we knew of a lovely italian restaurant in the town. Hand sanitizer everywhere, very clean public areas, room very clean. Good Covid precautions in place for buffet breakfast. Plenty of safe off road parking. Brilliant hotel for visiting Tomar, very interesting town, amazing convent and castle, very cheap entry fee.
This is a great small hostel, with the friendliest and most informative host. The rooms are fine and very clean, the shared kitchen is very well appointed, There is a shared dining/recreational space which is lovely. The town of Tomar is a really special place to visit. The local Spar shop has everything you need for a lovely meal if you don't want to eat out....
We were travelling by motorcycle and the owner locked it in his garage below the hotel for free. ... perfect !
The location is extra convenient - right in the heart of Tomar; so it's a perfect base for both day and night time explorations. The hotel staff is incredibly kind and accommodating, and will answer any questions you might have about the region. The room was exceptional! The bed was so comfortable, we didn't want to leave! And the shower was stellar too. The little balcony was super nice! And the breakfast - fresh and delicious - features incredible variety.
A very comfortable hotel, in a great location in Tomar, on the main square. Very friendly and helpful staff, with a good restaurant. Room was very comfortable and even offered some Pasteis de Nata on our arrival!
Hotel was very convenient to walk round town and also very close to walk up to the main tourist attractions of the Knights Templar-associated castle and convent.
A multi-storey car park was also very close (ask for a 24hour pass!).
Staying in this historic, old family house was a lovely relaxed , fun, experience. Our room was big ,comfortable and authentic.Wonderful huge keys, privacy, a vintage shared library / sitting room and a vast balcony...It was an adventure.
Like living in a film set. A great escape from modern life and an insight into Tomars history. We cancelled our spa break to stay another night.
An absolutely wonderful hotel, situated near the park and river, and not far from the Templars Castle site (which is so worth seeing). The room was huge and very comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were both incredibly good -- among the best we've had in Portugal. Abundant parking is available on site for a modest fee. Overall an incredible bargain and a most terrific hotel!!
Clean, super close to all the sights in Tomar, and extremely comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel was responsive to all messages previous to stay and was very toddler friendly—provided comfortable crib, had high chair at breakfast, etc. One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in! We regret not staying longer.
The hotel is located just outside the historical city center but all is in walking distance. I booked the junior suite which was very spacious. In first instance it looks nice but it's a bit outdated and could use refurbishment.
The hotel is a former palace and has quite a bit of history which is very interesting.
Exceptional service, great location, great facilities.
Thomar Story was a pleasant surprise on everything.
Room 32 faces the Templars Castle, with impressive view at night.
We spent our first night in Portugal at Thomar Story and that raised the bar for all other locations.
Thank you Gisele and Team.
Staff was super nice. Dorm, bathroom and kitchen were clean and spacious. Best lockers I've ever seen, where I could even store my small trolley AND daypack. Breakfast was also great.
Best hostel I ever had so far in Portugal. Many thanks to the great team!
This hotel is beautifully decorated. Is has spacious rooms and an nice garden (with plenty of eatable plums) and a swimming pool. Very quiet location near the center of Tomar. Herbert is very friendly and he provided us good tips for restaurants.
We LOVED this place! It was perfect. Beautiful apartment in a central location. Comfortable, spacious and every detail was considered. We only stayed one night but if we return to Portugal, we’ll stay here as a base to explore the wider region.
What a beautiful boutique hotel. Can't fault anything. David on reception was more than helpful! Biggest bed ever....we loved it! Spotlessly clean room and hotel right in the heart of Old Town Tomar. Would definitely return without hesitation.
The hotel is old but clean and close to the city centre. The breakfast was exceptional and lady who was at the reception during day (in the moring served breakfast) was very very nice and helpful. Many thanks.
A beautiful space full of air and light. Antônio is friendly and helpful. The location is great and the beds are comfortable. A perfect spot to explore Tomar and to relax.
We had a beautiful, quiet, spacious room in the center of Tomar. Everything was perfect. We enjoyed the pool and breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend.
