It depends on what one is looking for.
It depends on what one is looking for. We were mesmerised by the breathtaking view from our rooms / private pool. There was so much to take in. If one is looking for lots of people anf entertainment only then this option is not the best. For us it was well balanced . The host put us in touch with a taxi service with rates were reasonable (we cross checked). We took a cab to a beach club, to get to a restaurant or for joining a tour. We may have spent a bit on transport but it was worth it! We would have missed the spectacular view of the sunset and an unobstructed panoramic view of the sea.SharmilaIndia - Scored 6.06.0

Imerovigli is the highest town in Caldera.
Imerovigli is the highest town in Caldera. Calm area with wonderful view for Skaros rock, Volcano, Thirassia island and the beautiful caldera. I liked this area more than Oia and Fira. The only problem in caldera view hotels is that you need to walk some stairs which was not issue to me but maybe an issue to other people.Ayman MasriLebanon - Scored 1010

Nice little town without all of the crowds. Plenty to do and many choices for casual or fine dining. Walkable to Fira and Oia but difficult for those with any mobility issues. Lots of steps as there is in that part of Santorini so be prepared to climb. Ate at Rare Meat, Aegean and Mama Lena's which was our favorite! Amazing place to stay.
Amazing place to stay. Professional and nice people who clearly are happy working there. The view, the room and the breakfast at the private balcony were superb. Swimming pool is also fantastic with direct view to the Bay. The area is not crowded with tourists yet its close to the other towns like Oia and Fira. The walks along the side of the mountain are breathtaking It was a true bliss staying here.

If your going Santorini ,don't stay in Oia as far to busy. Imerovigli is fantastic and only a 20min bus journey for 2 euros each way .Staying in Imerovigli is so calm and peaceful compared to the busy Oia with so many tourists from the cruises arriving in their droves .
