I have been to Banff many times as a child and an adult.
I have been to Banff many times as a child and an adult. I have learned that early spring and autumn are best when big tourist groups are away. If you have spare time, check out Lake Louise and take the more scenic route instead of the highway; you won't regret it.

This stop was on our return from BC, previously we had stayed in Canmore and though Banff is attractive it was overcrowded even in early October. We enjoyed a lot of the sites around Banff which were not overcrowded, I dread to think what it is like in high season!

Beautiful scenery everywhere!
Beautiful scenery everywhere! Weather was good during our stay, mostly fine. Staff at restaurants were very friendly and helpful, and our meals were delicious. Recommend going to Visitor’s centre for recommendations, they can provide maps of area and suggestions depending on your length of stay and interests. We used shuttle for Gondola (with ticket booking) from Elk and Avenue, got Roam bus service back easily. Shops are open in the evening, so you can be out and about during the day, and still find time to do a bit of shopping.

Great location with fantastic views everywhere you look.
Great location with fantastic views everywhere you look. Many nice things to see and do nearby. Shopping had lots to choose from with enough variety to suit most. Lodging choices we made were fantastic - glad Banff has a lot to offer in that area.

Banff is very charming, cute shops, restaurants and pubs.
Banff is very charming, cute shops, restaurants and pubs. There is always a beautiful view of mountains and coniferous trees everywhere. There are many fantastic options for hiking at canyons, lakes and mountains and transportation to other beautiful areas nearby, such as Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. Unfortunately, the Banff Hot Springs were closed while I was there. It had been a few years since I visited Banff, and I would like to return again for a much longer stay.

Banff is a beautiful community, nestled in the mountains and surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in the province. The town site is lovely and there is no shortage of things to see and do, especially if you like the outdoors.
I attended the Melissa's Road Race. It was a great event, and we had a beautiful day for running. There was a real "party" vibe to the race and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
The town was very busy with lots of tourists which I guess is expected. I would like to return for another visit at some point. The drive from BC into the national parkway was spectacular with the mountains and fall colours at this time of year. Truly stunning natural beauty.

We loved our stay at Banff Aspen Lodge (as part of our Honeymoon in April). The complimentary breakfast was great value, we always had a variety of foods to keep us full while skiing (rotating oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon, cereal). The location is excellent - easy walking distance to all the restaurants in downtown. April is definitely the time to visit in terms of value for money - there was ample free parking available at the hotel. We loved having a proper barista made coffee at White Bark every day. Spacious shower and double sink.
The best motel in Canada during my trip. The room was after remodelling, with remote access and large parking area. It is not cheap, but worth of this money. 10-15 minutes walk to the downtown. If you are in Banff to make some hiking, I recommend to stay there. However it is good to have your own car, because most of interesting trails are quite far from Banff.
Easy free parking under the hotel
Very friendly check in - the lady also booked our Banff gondola tickets
Large room with super comfy bed
We loved the fireplace and communal seating downstairs
Great rooftop hot tubs
What's not to like? We would now like to return to Banff, specifically because of the Moose Hotel
First: Banff is beautiful, but pricey location. This accommodation belongs among the cheapest (except hostels).
If you select such affordable price in Banff you cannot expect the level of 3* hotel. You get what you paid for.
