APA Hotel & Resort Ryogoku Eki Tower, hotel in Tokyo

Located in Tokyo, 200 metres from NTT Docomo History Square, APA Hotel & Resort Ryogoku Eki Tower provides accommodation with a fitness centre, private parking, a garden and a restaurant.

The Apa Hotel is a good place to stay if you want to explore Tokyo all day and need a decent place to stay at night. The rooms are really small but very efficiently designed. There is not much space for suitcases but you can store the suitcase under the bed. There is a kombini in the facility which is very convenient. They also have a pool with a gorgeous view and an onsen facility which is sadly overcrowded. Check in was all automated as a self check in service.

FAQs about hotels in Tokyo

See It to Believe It!

The capital of Japan, Tokyo is a vast, teeming metropolis nestled between mountains and Tokyo Bay. It’s so huge that you’ll have to come to grips with public transport and maybe even experience being pushed onto a train. Yes, it does actually happen!

Get your bearings by ascending the Tokyo World Trade Centre near the waterfront, and savour the fantastic views taking in the red-and-white Tokyo Tower and Shinkuju’s skyscrapers. North is Ueno, home to the best museums (including the Tokyo National Museum) and a large park bursting with cherry blossom in spring.

Equally tranquil are the Chiyoda Imperial Palace and Gardens, surrounded by water. Also in gardens is the Meiji Jingu Shinto shrine in Shibuya, a youthful district where neon abounds.

For more traditional Japanese culture, head to Asakusa whose Sensō-ji Buddhist temple is Tokyo’s oldest temple. Markets in the grounds sell a variety of wares, though shopping in Tokyo is, of course, fantastic wherever you go.

Whether you stay in a Japanese ryokan, luxury Tokyo hotel or a hostel, don’t fly out of Tokyo Narita Airport or Haneda Airport without having tried sushi. Another Japanese institution is the sento (public bath) and onsen (hot springs bath) – a must try. Also incredibly popular are Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea, Asia’s 2 most visited theme parks.

The great place we went was Disney Sea, a wonderful experience for tourist to visit. I love Japanese restaurants- The food was delicious. It's very convenient to travel because of their train stations connected everywhere. Thank you to Google maps as well, it's very efficient. Akihabara is a nice place for anime lovers. You'll definitely love to roam around and find your favorite anime. Capsule and vending machines are great. Our family loves them.

Me and my bestie had been planning a trip to Japan for...

Me and my bestie had been planning a trip to Japan for several years. 2024 was the year to do it and everything turned out perfect, except for the extreme weather. The heat and humidity were epic! I've never experienced heat like this before. We went from September to October where the summer heat begins to taper off. At the end of our trip, it did start to get a little cooler. We were there for two weeks and did a ton of different activities. The people there are so respectful and positive and kind. The trains were super quiet even though some of them were extremely crowded. It's best to get some type of train pass if you plan on going to different cities. That JR Pass was a lifesaver! If you're into theme parks, Tokyo Disney Sea is incredible! It's easily the best one in the world and I'm a theme park designer. I've seen tons of theme parks and nothing is like this one! Look for tours on Trip Advisor or Viator. We did something every single day and each tour was absolutely amazing. Miyajima Island in Hiroshima was fantastic! Loved the Daisho-in Temple. Absolutely beautiful. There is so much more to see in this country and I really hope to go back some day!

Best city in the world. The highest standards of food I’ve ever tasted (and extremely cheap). The highest standards of politeness I’ve ever experienced. The cleanest streets in a massive city I’ve ever walked on. My only hope is that I get to visit again!

There is so much to do in Tokyo.

There is so much to do in Tokyo. We had 3 nights in Ueno and 1 night at the end of our trip in Shinjuku. For us, that was a perfect amount of time. Stand-out highlights - Go-Karting in Shibuya (at night) was so much fun; Warner Bros. Studio Tour; Teamlab Planets; Tir na nog Bar in Ginza was amazing (we got there at 11am and had the place to ourselves); Ameyoko shopping street in Ueno for dinner and a little shopping. We enjoyed staying in Ueno - more laid back and not as frenetic as Shinjuku.

I'm not a big fan of Tokyo, but I have been here many times and that may be why. I think it's overly-saturated with tourists and the crowd is sometimes unbearable. But, as a first time visitor to Japan, it is a must visit. It is modern and western enough that it's not a complete shock to first timers as most people do speak some English.

Great city with low pollution, and low traffic with lots of interesting sites to see and thousands of interesting dining options. Very livable, safe feeling big city. Public transportation is low cost, and while a bit intimidating at first. The Japanese people of Tokyo were very helpful when I occasionally would get into a spot in a station and not being sure what to do an "angel" would come along and give timely advice.

Superb place to stay, had a view on the Tokyo Skytree. Staff was really welcoming and helpful. Facilities were cleaned every day and new hygiene products were provided daily. We really liked the washing machine which washed and dried clothes in the same unit. FamilyMart and Lawson is just outside of the hotel. Transportation for Shinjuku, Shibuya or Akihabara etc is close-by, Ryogoku Station. Beds are reaaallly comfortable. Definitely the best I have had in Japan.

The Mimaru Shinjuku West is close enough to everything you need in Shinjuku but far enough from the busy centre. We could taxi to Shibuya, Harajuku for less than AUD$20 a time, which was great for our family of 4. The hotel has the conveniences of an apartment (fridge, cooking, etc) but with cheap street food just a few mins walk away, we didn’t use it.

We loved the view of Tokyo from a huge window at the foot of our bed. We loved the cherry blossom trees in the park at the front of our hotel. We loved the reception staff and their gentle manner. My husband is disabled and found the reception disabled facilities excellent. But he found the hotel room difficult to manouevre around due to lack of space.
