Staying at Mahali Zanzibar was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and a genuine sense of hospitality. My room was stunning, with a breathtaking sea view that perfectly captured the beauty of Zanzibar. The cleanliness and comfort were impeccable, and each day felt like a piece of paradise.
One highlight I’ll never forget was their signature Mahali cocktail—the best I’ve ever had! I find myself already missing its unique taste, a true testament to the thought and care that goes into every detail here.
A special mention goes to Mr. Wifi Abdula, whose exceptional customer service made my stay extraordinary. From day one, he was attentive, genuinely friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure I was always comfortable. He truly understands what it means to make guests feel at home, and his kindness left a lasting impression.
Situated right in the heart of Paje Beach, Mahali Zanzibar offers a perfect balance of relaxation and local vibrance. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable escape. Mahali Zanzibar, thank you for the wonderful memories—I can’t wait to return!

Paje is a great town with several beach and other resturants, shops, atm's, banks, medical services, fuel station, etc. The Paje vibe is great and the restaurants along the beach are great. Kite surfing is popular in Paje. Overall, definately one of the best areas to stay in Zanzibar.

I'm not even joking, every 2 minutes someone would come to sell me something for my entire 12 day stay. It was extremely energy-draining.
Someone even came to me while I was in the damn water.
"JAMBO! HOW ARE YOU? DO YOU WANT TO BUY A T-SHIRT?"
"I HAVE NO SHILLINGS. I'M LITERALLY IN THE WATER."
"GO TO THE HOTEL, HAKUNA MATATA."
I'm sorry to say, but despite Zanzibar being one of the most beautiful places I've seen, the excessive overselling by the locals was a traumatic experience, and it simply did not allow me to enjoy my stay.

My stay at Hotel Ndame in Paje was a thoroughly negative experience. The hotel's description is completely misleading and does not reflect the actual conditions, which feels like a scam. The price is significantly overrated for the substandard quality provided.
Major issues:
Cleanliness: The overall compound was shockingly dirty, far below basic hygiene standards expected of any hotel.
Staff behavior: The staff was consistently rude and became aggressive when complaints were raised. Most alarmingly, I observed clear instances of racist behavior from the staff, particularly towards African guests. This discrimination was blatant and completely unacceptable.
Security: The security personnel at the gate were unnecessarily violent, creating an atmosphere of fear rather than safety.
Facilities: The actual accommodations were far below the advertised quality.
I cannot recommend this hotel to any travelers, especially those of African descent. The combination of unsanitary conditions, misleading marketing, overpricing, poor treatment by staff, racist attitudes, and aggressive security made for a distressing and potentially dangerous experience."

Paje is a Swahili fishing and seaweed farming village that has a bustling beach tourist economy. It is an excellent destination for kite surfing, parasailing, snorkeling, or generally beach relaxing. The restaurants are a mix of authentic Swahili fish camps, boutique beach food cafés, and luxury hotel restaurants. Everyone in the hospitality services there were incredibly welcoming and helpful.

Paje is a beautiful town, best one of the island.
Paje is a beautiful town, best one of the island. Atmosfeer is good, people are very friendly. There is also lots of delicious local food available, just don't go to much to the western places but visit local places so the people of Paje can do there business. The beach is perfect, especially for kite surfing. You must visit Mr Kahawa for one of the best coffees and friendly staff! Go around on the island on bike or rent a scooter it's so nice to see the litle local villages and meet the most friendly locals!

The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
If you enjoy more of a tourist and party atmosphere this is probably the place for you
I personally prefer the more relaxed atmosphere where the staff are not so ‘on top’ of you
I booked 2 suits unfortunately one was on top of the bar and kitchen so it was quite noisy until midnight
The second suit was bottom floor access to the beach but the beach beds were full of clothes just dumped there
When I mentioned it I was told that it was ok
Not really very good for 2 suits for 500€ a day
Needless to say the next day we changed hotels to a more relaxed one more to my liking
Not to say that the hotel was bad just not for me

we have stayed in several hotels in zanzibar so I can say that this one was the best. Room neat and clean, air conditioning, usb plugs, large bathroom with cosmetics, luggage room. For 4 people the room was not big but it is important that the bathroom is very comfortable and large. Rich breakfasts for Zanzibar, you can order several dishes at once, e.g. omelette and pancakes. Water dispenser, tea and coffee and cookies available. pool large and clean. The hotel bar by the beach serves very good food and drink at reasonable prices
Best hotel we stayed in Zanzibar. Nice big rooms, very clean, good aircon, kettle in the room, nice view, good breakfast. After Paje we went to Kendwa but we wanted to come back as all it was much better in Paje and frendlier people. With the sea the tide was not so terrible, so we could swim in the Ocean every day. Hotel has also reasonble prices of food and alcoholic drinks.
We loved the location, it is directly on the beach and in the lively village of Paje. The beds are comfortable and the breakfast is really good. Rooms are cleaned everyday, also fresh water and towels are also provided daily if you want. staff is very friendly and helpful. Great place to stay in Zanzibar!
I highly recommend this place! Very clean, cozy room and the best host. They help you with everything and serve the best breakfast in Zanzibar. Location is near the Paje Beach so you have to walk just 3 minutes. What is important this place has security at night so you always feel safe.
