The location is on the new town side, next to Carrefour shopping centre. After spent one night in a very small room at the old city, the hotel is much comfortable.
The bed is wide and the room is spacious. Staffs are friendly and helpful. From the balcony you can overlook the old city.

Commonly spelled Fez, this city was Morocco’s capital during Middle Ages. The city was originally composed of two separate settlements located along the banks of the Jawhar River. Madinat Fas was founded in 789 by Idris I, while Al-'Aliya was founded by his son Idris II. Both towns grew autonomously until the Almoravids unified them in 1070 under the name ‘Fas’. The city is still considered a beacon of the Islamic civilisation, due to its ancient ‘madrasas’ Islamic colleges.
The Old Town or ‘medina’ has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, representing one of the best preserved historic centres in the world. The famous ‘riads’ or small traditional hotels are located in the medina, which is also called Fes Al-Bali.
The city can be reached through Fès Saïss Airport, or from the airports in Casablanca and Rabat via railway or bus connection. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel in Fez New Town or a historic ‘riad’ in the medina, don’t miss Booking.com’s wide offering!
Same as marrakesh but not as exhausting. Same tip culture!
Same as marrakesh but not as exhausting. Same tip culture! Really off putting for those who do not come from this tipping culture. Would skip Fes if I was doing the trip again… I would have stayed in Ifrane instead.

Fez's market is huge and overwhelming.
Fez's market is huge and overwhelming. We had a guide and driver for our 1 day which was perfect. The only thing that was hard for me is that so much of the mid/late day with the guide was focused on the various crafts they make - leather, Berber rugs, cactus silk scarves (and even though the guide kept saying there was no obligation to buy anything, I kept feeling like I was getting pushed to buy - which as a minimalist is a pretty uncomfortable place for me). We had an amazing dinner at Ishq. The lamb shoulder will be in my top 5 lifetime memorable meals. Walking in the medina seems very difficult. We tried to walk to dinner (should have been 8 minutes), got lost, an old woman eventually led us out and found the general area of the restaurant and we tipped her/thanked her profusely as it felt like we were in a maze that we would never find our way out of. For what it's worth, I was reading The Sheltered Sky over the course of this trip.

If I were to rank the popular touristic cities in Morocco,...
If I were to rank the popular touristic cities in Morocco, Fès is unquestionably our favourite. The people are genuine and friendly. You are not constantly pestered by touts and the vibe is the most authentic, especially in the medina. The Chouara Tannery was my top experience. My advice is to book a half-day private tour of the sights in the medina, our guide was knowledgeable, passionate and super kind. If you have more time, do a full day one and you can visit the Jewish quarter and Marinid Tombs, although they are only a taxi ride away.

I don’t know what to say about the city….
I don’t know what to say about the city…. The smell is horrible! Everywhere just smells like trash and no Is not the fault of the tannery just very dirty place and full of fly… people are not as nice as other place in Morocco. People (man) basically try to scam you every 5 seconds. During the time of the pray, some straight of the Medina are closed So you find yourself very lost and the connection is super bad, So as soon as somebody see you with the phone on maps They try to take advantage and “bring you Outside” Evento, you say no they literally force you and at the end they ask you money. We didn’t give them money And they start to Became very aggressive Especially against me ( a woman) And then they started with racist and anti-feminist insults…. I have to say from that moment on I just wanted to leave bc I didn’t felt safe anymore.
Outside Medina, there are thousands of homeless dog and really you basically can see only man going around… as a woman i would never come back!
Last but not least the tannery are amazing really worth my time

Fes is exotic and dramatic.
Fes is exotic and dramatic. The old parts of Fes were just fascinating, filled with colour, history and culture. Being able to go up to the many terraces (above the riads or restaurants) meant we had varied views of the city surrounded by hills, which gave us a feeling of openness and space. We loved the busy small streets in the Medina where no cars were allowed, and found the people friendly and helpful. The old parts of the city are so different from the new area, which we passed on the way to the airport.

The one day we had in Fez felt like a trip to the Middle Ages. The medina is amazing, although does not feel 100% safe. It is recommended to take a guide, otherwise you can easily lose yourself in the countless streets.
Dar Lantana was exceptional--Catherine, the host, has amazing communication and is so helpful. Her staff is also so warm - Alal was helpful when she was not around and the cook can work some serious magic. We were in Morocco on a 10-day trip and the breakfast at Dar Lantana was the best one, hands down, out of all the places we have eaten (cafes, restaurants and other riads). The location is perfect for exploring the Fes medina. If you have any questions, Catherine can answer them and her recommendations are spot on.
The hotel manager Badia , Abdul and Isis were amazing. Badia and Abdul took care of my son cooking special food for him as he wasn't very well. Badia was super kind and organised all our excursions, hamman etc...She is super professional and got the bedt deals. Abdul serve our breakfast and took care of us at all times. The breakfast was amazing. Lots of different typical Morocco bread. Fresh orange juice and lemon juice, bread, butter, spreadable cheese, honey, different marmalades...AMAZING!!!
What a wonderful property in the midst of the magical medina of Fes. This was one of my favourite stays in Morocco. Very much in the things, close to all sights. Hospitality beyond comparison. The room and courtyard were beautifully decorated. Breakfast was a generous spread. We were guided to a taxi stand to get to the railway station in the morning and at goodbye told 'Come back to your second home. You now have a second home in Fes'. How lovely is that.
This Riad is a real surprise, as many places in Morocco it is almost not recognisable from outside. The inner courtyard ist beautifully decorated and has a burbling fountain, the rooftop is amazing with a wonderful view over the entire city of Fès. Abundant moroccan breakfast. Located in the middle of the medina, about 15 minutes walk from the Blue Gate (Bab Bou Jeloud).
