Travel in a small group of up to seven people in a minivan, avoiding the large coach experience. Your first stop is Poenari Fortress, once used as a castle by Vlad the Impaler, the historical figure who inspired the Dracula legend. You will admire the fortress from the outside and hear about its intriguing past.
The route continues to the impressive Vidraru Dam, a 1960s engineering project that holds back the waters of Lake Vidraru. From there you ascend into Făgăraș Mountains National Park, where the landscape and mountain scenery become the focus. You will visit Balea Lake, situated at over 2,000 metres and open only from June to October, with views of the famous winding Top Gear Road. On the return journey there is a stop at Capra Waterfall, a refreshing spot to take in the mountain air and scenery.
