Since Victor Hugo passed away in 1885, this grand space has become a burial ground for illustrious French writers, scientists, military leaders, clergy members, and political figures. The crypt is home to more than 70 prominent tombs featuring personalities such as Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Emile Zola, Alexandre Dumas; along with Pierre and Marie Curie.
From April to October visitors can enjoy stunning panoramic views over Paris from the recently refurbished upper levels.
