On this audio tour, you’ll explore central Cape Town at your own pace, listening to fascinating narration about the city’s history, including its legacy of slavery. Beginning at the Castle of Good Hope, you’ll follow a route that traces the footsteps of the slaves brought to the Cape.

You’ll learn about the public executions that took place outside the castle and visit the Grand Parade where crowds gathered to watch Nelson Mandela speak from the balcony of City Hall after being freed from jail. You’ll also pass other noteworthy sites including the Groote Kerk, Church Square, the Old Slave Tree and the Mutual Heights building before ending at the Iziko Slave Lodge.
