North Beach Food and History Walking Tour

A guided walk through the historic neighborhood to sample Italian food and visit literary landmarks

Free cancellation available
Up to 24 hours before the start time
Duration: 2 hours

On this walking tour through North Beach, you'll have the opportunity to discover one of San Francisco's oldest and most vibrant neighborhoods. Along with having its own Little Italy, North Beach was once a haunt for writers of the Beat Generation.

Led by a local guide, you'll visit neighborhood favorites like Stella Pastry & Café and Golden Boy Pizza to sample various Italian flavors. You'll pass the heavily graffitied Jack Kerouac Alley as well as City Lights Booksellers & Publishers, where your guide will share anecdotes about the Beat Generation.

You'll also pause by a handful of historic landmarks including Washington Square, the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi and the Sentinel Building – home to a film studio co-founded by Francis Ford Coppola and George Lucas.
