Great customer service and location. I arrive late from the train station and a few days before I receive communication via email of the instruction of how to enter the proper the lobby was closed by the time I arrive. Everything was as explained in the note so all went well and again, the location is great and the front desk lady cave so many good recommendations.

FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills Are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport.

Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

We love the lakes which are only 45-50 minutes from Salzburg by public bus which was FREE. The city was very busy but worth visiting and walking through the old town. Our fourth visit to Salzburg so we do love it.

Our aim was the Old Town area and it did not disappoint.

Our aim was the Old Town area and it did not disappoint. We started the day with a walk in colourful Mirabell Gardens and listened to the free concert - it was a Sunday so the Palace was closed but there was an orchestra playing at 10.30. We crossed the pedestrian bridge and mooched the market along the river - lots of hand made or good quality items. Then into the old town itself to explore - Mozart's house, the Cathedral, up to the Fortress and Nonnburg etc. It is easily walkable and a small area, although you can clock up the miles looking down each alley. There are lots of gelateria's and as it was over 30 degrees we had 4 ice-creams during the day... We also stopped at the roof terrace bar of the Stein Hotel for a drink and view across to the Fortress and over the old town. A perfect location for a weekend break - and I would also include a trip to Konigsee (840 bus) as it is absolutely stunning

I went to college in Salzburg for the years 1970-71 and have been back at least 2 dozen times since. My trips to Europe will always sneak into Salzburg for at least one or two days. It is just a beautiful and vibrant city that has lasted for hundreds of years. It is also a good main city to use as a connector to day trips to Germany and the lake region of the Salzkammergut. Numerous museums, walking routes and historical sites make it a must see city.

Beautiful town with a long history worth a longer and in more depth exploration. A stay of three or four days would be ideal. One day and half (in our case) is obviously not enough. Go to the Salzburg Cathedral for organo concert. Skip Hangar-7 and Salzburg Casino.

We had 6 nights,, and last year only 3 so now we have had a good dose of Salzburg, we think every second or third year for us could suffice. There is something very special here, from the friendly people, the greenery, the coffee and bakeries and a favourite, Mozarts Caffe for cake. We averaged over 20,000 steps a day,, sometimes 30,000 and it came easy as you just want to explore more so grab comfy shoes and set off early on your planned day or simply go with the flow as we sometimes did.

This hotel was in an excellent location, very close to the Mirabell palace and gardens. Easy walk into the old town but also lots of transport options close by. Supermarket is near and on Thursday mornings a large Farmers’ Market takes place around the church just outside the hotel! Also recommend the Salzburg card if you intend to do the Untersbergbahn GmbH (mountain cable car). The card includes public transport so it pays for itself with that one attraction. Everything else is a bonus. Plus you can often skip ticket lines.

We have come to Salzburg Christmas markets every year for the last 15 years and stayed at various hotels and apartments. For the last 4 years we have stayed at Judengasse and will be booking again, for the money paid you get a very large apartment in the old town, clean, overlooking the river, if you have had to much Glühwein and want a rest in the afternoon, what better place to go to put your feet up before you head back out early evening for dinner in the old town once again.

Nice modern hotel. Great location. Right next to the Salzach river (my room actually had a view onto the Salzach and Salzburg old town). Close to the Hauptbahnhof, close to main points of interest. Old town is a little (but nice) walk from the motel. All in all a nice place, if a little pricey (but the. everything is in Salzburg) I didn‘t have breakfast, didn‘t use the parking facilities so can‘t speak to that.

We were only in Salzburg for a day so chose this hotel for the location right at the main train station. About a 15 minute walk to the old town. Friendly staff and our room was ready before the official check in time so we checked in early. Room was clean and comfortable , mini bar was free. Worth getting a room on the higher floors for the view.
