The Old Bank Gladstone Licensed Restaurant & Boutique Accommodation, hotel in Hat Head

Set in Hat Head, The Old Bank Gladstone Licensed Restaurant & Boutique Accommodation offers accommodation with free WiFi, a garden, lake views, and access to a hot spring bath and a hot tub.

Hosts could not have been friendlier. They went beyond the call of duty. Nothing appeared to be too much trouble to them. My wife and I felt we were treated like royalty at times. So many little extras made our stay at The Old Bank memorable. The breakfasts are to be experienced to be appreciated.

Great location right across from the beach and a short walk to the patrolled beach area but unfortunately thats all the good things about the property. The whole house needed a good clean. There was about 6 months worth of dust on fans and there was only 2 ceiling fans in the place the rest were portable fans. Some of the lights were not working in the bedrooms and bathroom. The fridge and freezer smelt like off prawns and there was thick cobwebs in the corners of the room. A lot of the fly screens were broken on the windows or some windows did not have any fly screens which made it impossible to open windows with all the bugs. Some of the dining room chairs were broken with exposed screens which was dangerous. The bathroom door did not close unless you locked it and the shower screen was broken as well. The whole property needs a good upgrade and repairs completed.

Lovely crystal clear creek for kayaking. Close to the beach.

Lovely crystal clear creek for kayaking. Close to the beach. Good fishing spots. Out of the cities and build up suburbs. Surrounded by farmland, rivers and the ocean. Very scenic. Not too far from other places like Crescent Heads, South West Rocks and Scotts Head.

We loved the cottage. It was simple but charming and neat. Great value for money and we loved that we could walk or ride our bikes just about anywhere. Beautiful part of the world and we would definitely stay here again.

A great place to escape and chill if you love being near the beach, even if you don't like going in the water. Have the option for tame beach walking or more robust rock scampering all within reach. Bush walking, water activities or straight out fishing are all here. Kempsey is about 30 min drive with shops and a lovely goose filled river side parkland. Plenty of little towns in between to stop and venture around. Recommend planning at least half a day of doing nothing to enjoy the time out.
