I did an eco tour and the information about the area, fauna and wild life were extensive. The skipper and the host did their best to give us a good time although it was raining. It was a time well spend. The information provided the time and knowledge to explore by myself. There is a lot to choose from but my time was limited. I will be back and spend more time there as well as repeating the tour. I did not have a car but I have not explored the public transport options within the area, that is my next job, It is possible to rent a bike or canoe, I am not a fishing person but like to walk.

did the eco boat tour with Lonsdales cruises - excellent tour - lots of information given about the history of Lakes Entrance and pointing out wildlife including seals - and an amazing scone for afternoon tea on the boat.

The Lonsdale cruise was a relaxing 3-hour trip round the lakes. There is a good choice of restaurants - Sodafish, The Central Hotel and Nicks Thai were all very good - and the emphasis everywhere is on fresh seafood.

We only stayed one night on our way through to Melbourne - but that was enough for me. I dare say if we had visited the beaches we might have liked it better but the town lacks interest, has few decent restaurants and doesn't have much style.

Lakes Entrance has a temperate climate.

Lakes Entrance has a temperate climate. The beaches and views are stunning. It’s the kind of place that you feel relaxed as soon as you enter the area. If you want beaches and bush it’s perfection. Whether you are into water sports and hiking or just want to chill it’s perfection.

The long weekend meant that it was very busy.

The long weekend meant that it was very busy. Visiting outside holiday weekends or school holidays is much more relaxing. Plenty of places to eat (cafes and restaurants were full of people.) Wyanga winery is close by and there are several cruises you can take on the lakes. Not to mention mini golf - there are 5 in the town! We did not venture on to the beach as we had our 2 year old grandson with us. It is a nice walk across the bridge to the beach and along to the Entrance, where you can see quite a few seals. We were lucky to have great weather.

The kids loved the pool which was kept very clean. We selected this hotel because it had a room large enough for a young family. Kitchen facilities were good.
