FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, whose highlight is walking through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognisable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the colour of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping centre has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this is not the city’s only sporting heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules football and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodation from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

    An Unforgettable Melbourne Getaway!!

An Unforgettable Melbourne Getaway!! We absolutely loved our time in Melbourne! We came to soak up the city lights, events, activities, and food—and the city delivered on every front. While we had a few things planned, some of the best moments came from spontaneous discoveries: wandering through the beautiful Botanic Gardens, visiting the Shrine of Remembrance, attending a live-action Dungeons & Dragons show (Critical Role), and checking out the Star Wars LEGO exhibit at the museum. One of the most unexpected highlights was tackling an Aladdin-themed escape room, followed by hunting through Melbourne’s gaming and collectible stores in search of Warhammer and Pokémon vending machines. We even carved out time to explore several antique stores tucked around the city—hunting for hidden gems and quirky finds added a whole new layer to our adventure. We also explored the Old Melbourne Gaol, where we took part in a mock arrest and sentencing, and learned about its haunting history—featuring infamous figures like Ned Kelly and Chopper Read. The nearby State Library was equally impressive, where we saw Ned Kelly’s original armour and admired the breathtaking architecture. The food scene was incredible—standouts included the flavour-packed Uyghur dishes at @Dolan Cuisine, a Viking-themed feast at Mjolnir, whimsical treats at @The Hatter and the Hare, and a mouthwatering Korean BBQ experience. And yes, we averaged more than two hot chocolates a day—Melbourne’s baristas are truly on another level. Getting around was a breeze thanks to the easy-to-use public transport system. The weather was cool but manageable with layers (scarves, gloves, beanies), and even when it rained, we were lucky enough to be indoors at one of the city’s amazing restaurants. We experienced so much culture, creativity, and character in just one week. There’s truly so much to see and do—we’re already planning our next trip back!

Melbourne is a wonderful city with many things to enjoy. It's easy to navigate either on foot or by tram. We love visiting all of the arcades (Royal, Block etc) & laneways with their beautiful architecture & history. There are so many fabulous old pubs, restaurants & cafes serving coffee/tea & delicious meals. There are many parks & gardens to stroll through & picnic in (Royal Botanic, Flagstaff, Fitzroy, Carlton etc) & it's also lovely to walk along the iconic Yarra River.

We felt so lucky to find this apartment! The location is in the heart of Melbourne CBD, so walking distance to a huge number of great restaurants, cafes, bars, and shopping. It's tastefully decorated (which seems rare with Melbourne CBD rental apartments!), and has a good-sized living area. The two bedrooms are spaced apart, which is nice for privacy and if you are travelling with a snorer! Would definitely stay here again.

The location is within the free city tram zone, at a quieter zone of the Melbourne CBD ... easy to reach points of interest within the city. The hotel complimentary breakfast was offering a good range of continental food. The swimming pool has a great view of the Victoria Harbour and is well maintained. The bedroom was spacious with a good size.bathroom, with an angle view of Victoria Harbour from the window.

The Savoy is my favourite Melbourne CBD hotel. The staff are approachable, efficient and help with every request . Kayla was especially helpful with check in . The hotel is quiet, clean, always smells beautiful. Breakfast is served in a calm and quiet space which is a perfect way to start my day. The location is brilliant as it's only a 5 minute walk to the Airport Skybus.

The hotel is super central to the CBD and Southbank. It is within walking distance to amazing restaurants and bars and Flinders Station is less than a 5 minute walk so you have easy train access. The room was so super comfortable. We loved our 2 night stay and I will definitely be staying here when I'm back in Melbourne. The price was fantastic too for a 5-star property!

It was extremely convenient location for me due to my late arrival and the bus connection option I used from the airport to the CBD Melbourne. It was just a few minutes walk from the terminal bus stop to the hotel, which was quick and easy even with my moderate luggage load.
