Loved this hotel, the decor, the greenery, the facilities, the margaritas at the crane bar, the sauna and pool - I was sad to leave! We stayed here for the Lady Gaga concert and the location for this was exceptional.

The location was perfectly central, we could just walk up and down flinders lane for the restaurants and bars we researched ahead of time without realising it’s just on the same street. Going to Southbank, little Bourke and little Collins for shopping and is a quick 10 minute walk. Of course, W hotels always have modern and well designed edgy rooms and amenities.

FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

To be honest I knew very little about Melbourne (despite having lived in Sydney over 40 years). Having done the walking tour (which I highly recommend), I have a totally different appreciation of Melbourne. Loved the history, the coffee and restaurant culture and the general vibe. Had I known this before I visited, I would have certainly stayed longer. Melbourne, you may have my heart!!

· Location and convenience

· Location and convenience Disliked · Room was horrible as soon as we opened the door very bad sewer smell. Contacted reception and they advised we'll call you back shortly, waited 10 minutes or so then someone turned up with an air freshner to spray the room. Called reception again and requested a different room in which they politely obliged. We finally got a new room and that was a big difference and no smell. New room TV stopped working. Staff attempted to fix but unable to and they requested we use chromecast. We did not have a choice but even still we weren't able to switch off with remote so had to turn power off the wall behind TV. Furthermore, downlights above the bed started flickering even though th

Fascinating city with vast variables to see and do.The transport system is amazing and allows for exploring outside the City and beyond. The variety of architecture is most interesting. I was SO IMPRESSED WITH THE FRIENDLINESS ACROSS THE BOARD OF PEOPLE I ASKED FOR HELP FROM. Were from DIFFERNT CURTURAL BACKGROUNDS . There is something for everyone across the age range. Sporting events Are popular. The beautiful green spaces and trees too were a bonus. Many and diverse eateries and restaurants.

The hotel is in a great location as it is within walking distance to the CBD and the MCG. It is beautifully decorated and the rooms are large with every convenience you need. The staff are so kind and polite. It really is an outstanding hotel to stay in if visiting the City of Melbourne. This was my second stay and am already looking forward to my third. The service from the majority of the staff was fabulous. Especially the entrance security staff member, and the staff member who valeted our hire car for us. Both extremely helpful & lovely gentlemen. The hotel itself was amazing, as you would hope, such a quirky, lux, industrial feel - loved it. Also a great location, very central.
