Zagames is a cool spot in a great location. The beds were super comfy, shower worked great, wine bar and restaurant was very good, and it is in a great location- walkable to the Little Italian restaurants in Carlton, shopping and bars in Fitz Roy, and very close to Flinders Square and a bunch of sites to see. Perfect for our 4-day stay in Melbourne.

FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

The river cruise down the river is a great way to start exploring Melbourne. Southbank with the restaurants and bars is amazing. Walking the city with the availability of free trams around the city was a fantastic experience. Melbourne having the reputation for the cafe capital of Australia is more than justified, exceptional cafes and restaurants in and around the city centre.

The weather was perfect the restaurants and staff were amazing we went to Nobu and Ging Thai, I walked the promenade the Yarra, Southgate, it was relaxing and not as busy so I actually enjoyed it, activities you could do was ferry rides, visiting the gardens, they had a Ferris wheel at the convention centre and rides for kids and adults which was amazing a short walk to DFO and along the yarra

I absolutely LOVE Melbourne.

I absolutely LOVE Melbourne. The food is great, the city is very easy to navigate, the free tram is fantastic. The city is clean, with plenty of lovely green areas and gardens. It is an eclectic collection of old and new. There are interesting markets within Melbourne, and within an hours drive. I’ve travelled extensively around the world, but Melbourne would have to be one of my favourite cities if not “the” favourite

We arrived on Christmas day; the city was packed with.

We arrived on Christmas day; the city was packed with. I wonder what a normal day looks like? Excellent Chinese and South East Asian food is plentiful in the CBD. Southgate was pumping, too. The weather was, predictably, all over the map, but, two sunny, summer days out of 4 we thought acceptable. But who goes to Melbourne for the weather? We caught a highly entertainig magic show at Spiegel Haus downtown, drank cocktails in a Nepalese lounge, tried to buy something, anything at the sales in vain due to the sea of others trying to do the same, strolled arm in arm through the extensive parks opposite the arts center and took the bus to Brunswick Street and wished we had another few days. The more you see, the more you want to see. Melbourne has a very strong pulse!

Went for the test match at MCG; England won! City very walkable but excellent public transport - free in CBD and at weekends in summer - made longer journeys easy. Went to Melbourne Museum, good and National Gallery, also good. Interesting river walks and coastal walks. Beer and food more expensive than UK.

You can’t beat the location. Right by the train station and easy walk to eateries all along Toorak Rd & Chapel St. The view back to the city was great. The apartments are modern, furnished nicely and beds were comfy. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff were super friendly and helpful & the price was so good compared to city/Docklands where we used to stay. This area has city vibes without being the CBD.

This is the only hotel I stay in Melbourne, great location close to the train station, Marvel Stadium is a stones throw away and the skybus back to Melbourne Airport. The restaurant and bar is value for money for quick bite to eat and beer/wine. I stayed in the apartments that I found very satisfying but down the track it will need an upgrade with a fresh lick of paint and carpets. Great stay, I will be back

The Savoy is my favourite Melbourne CBD hotel. The staff are approachable, efficient and help with every request . Kayla was especially helpful with check in . The hotel is quiet, clean, always smells beautiful. Breakfast is served in a calm and quiet space which is a perfect way to start my day. Great location for walking in all directions around Melbourne CBD. Very close to the Vic Markets and Southern Cross Station. Very clean rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. We stayed in the attached apartments building rather than the hotel so it was a bit more like an air b'n'b experience. The apartment was small but felt spacious, it was clean and comfortable for four adults.

Despite that I thought I was booking the CBD apartments and arriving at the Docklands instead was a bit of a surprise, we really enjoyed the location. It was quiet and there was a tram stop right outside making travel around Melbourne very easy. The room was large, clean and well equipped.
