What an incredible stay. The rooms are beautiful and the hotel itself is stunning throughout. Breakfast was outstanding, and the staff are genuinely the nicest I have ever met in all my travels. They went above and beyond: I had to check out very early to continue my journey, and even though it was well before breakfast service, they kindly prepared a takeaway breakfast for me. That little touch summed up the whole experience. I couldn't recommend it more highly, and I'll absolutely be back.

FAQs about hotels in Sarajevo

A Cultural Oasis, Where East Meets West

Sarajevo could be described as a captivating oasis of European cities, where East meets West in an integration of diverse cultures and a fascinating history mixed with a fresh cosmopolitan and charismatic vibe.

A museum in itself, Sarajevo is a sightseeing and history lover’s haven from the numerous mosques, churches and synagogues, to historic landmarks such as Sarajevo War Tunnel and Latin Bridge. Afterwrads, you could wander through the Old Town, which is a world on its own.

Sarajevo’s cultural diversity means a large selection of local delicacies. Be sure to visit Sarajevo’s historic and cultural hub Baščaršija bazaar, an ancient trading place with cafés, restaurants, cosy bars, art, and loads of accommodation options.

Depending on where you are coming from, this can be a great Small/Mid city to visit. I loved the weather and the food, both were amazing. The city leans more toward history than modernity, so do not expect a very modern atmosphere, but rather historic buildings and views. The surrounding nature is truly breathtaking, and the food, especially the fruit is on another level.

Sarajevo is a beautiful and welcoming city with a fascinating mix of history, culture, good food and mountain scenery. **August, however, is extremely busy and very tourist-heavy**, particularly around Baščaršija and the main centre. With so many visitors from different countries, at times it feels more like an international tourist destination than a local Bosnian city, so you do lose some of that authentic local atmosphere. I would happily return, but probably outside the peak summer period when it is quieter and you can experience more of everyday Sarajevo.

Sarajevo is an incredible city.

Sarajevo is an incredible city. You can feel history everywhere you walk. It is a beautiful city, but at the same time, the traces of the war, the massacres and the suffering people experienced are still very powerful. Visiting these places and learning more about what happened was both emotional and unforgettable. I sincerely hope that this history and the people who suffered will never be forgotten. Apart from its history, we loved everything about Sarajevo. The atmosphere, the people, the food, the coffee, Baščaršija and simply walking through the streets were wonderful. There is something very special about this city that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. We had a fantastic time as a family and I will definitely come back to Sarajevo. It is one of those cities that stays with you long after you leave.

Sarajevo people are very hospitable.

Sarajevo people are very hospitable. Tours to other parts of the country are also convenient and affordable. The city's infrastructure, planning and transportation are optimal. Even the water flowing from the tap is drinkable. There are no language difficulties, most people understand English. Sometimes it is possible to communicate in Russian or Turkish. Prices in shopping malls and supermarkets are normal. The air is clean and the place is beautiful.

Sarajevo is a great mix of the old and new.

Sarajevo is a great mix of the old and new. The Old City (especially Baščaršija) is beautiful, with opportunities to savor in the history and amazing food and drinks. This is also where you'd want to go to buy gifts and souvenirs for yourself and folks back home. From Sarajevo, you also have access to great opportunities for mountain hiking and rafting in the spring and summer, and to skiing during the winter. Of course, the place also has a tragic history -- no point pretending otherwise -- so, if you're a history buff, the museums will appeal to you as well.

Sarajevo is, in my opinion, a truly underrated gem of a city. The old town with its Ottoman architecture was charming and it is easy to see why some consider it to be a mini Istanbul. Coppersmiths Street, in particular, was very interesting. Make sure to go inside one if the many shops to find out more about what the brass vases are made from and watch the craftsmen at work. There is a wonderful vibe throughout the city, which we loved. It is steeped in history too, from the Ottoman Empire to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and you should also visit the spot where the First World War began. If you have time also take the cable car up the mountain for a wonderful city view. Most importantly though, do take a local tour to the Tunnel of Hope to learn more about the city’s more recent past.

The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. I'd arrived at the hotel late and stressed after finding the accommodation I'd originally booked was not safe. The receptionist kindly took time to help me and poured me a large and welcome gin. Delightful old Austro-Hungarian style small hotel just a short walk across the bridge to the main old part of the city. Basic, no frills, but a lovely breakfast and a very warm welcome. Corner shop close by and very helpful small restaurants round the corner who would even exchange currency.

Fantastic apartment where you couldn’t ask for anything more. Clean, 5 star accommodation with private bathroom looking exactly like the pictures. The little touches were extremely cute like the hotel slippers and cotton buds giving it the luxury feel. Honestly anyone who books will not be disappointed, 5 min walk to the old town and in walking distance to all the sites I had pretty much a day here (afternoon and morning) and was able to see and visit all the attractions and all the viral food places are all in the old town too.

We’ve been in Sarajevo several times, staying in different hotels. Hotel President has been the best so far! Perfect location, garage, conmfortable room, spacious bathroom, good lighting in the room , delicious breakfast and very professional and friendly staff. Just a note for those seeking Bosnian authenticity- hotel is modern, if you are looking for a traditional place, look for something else.

I liked the hotel, it's 5-10 minutes to the old town. Administrators Ishak, Nermina and Adin were very nice, they helped in everything. We called a taxi to the bus station, bought water (turned off for one evening in the whole old town) I liked the breakfast, and they cook Bosnian coffee excellently
