Although a town of fairly humble origins (agglomerated villages) it has a UNESCO world heritage site : the Four Lifts. I recommend cycling along the canal and admiring them. When following the canal, there is also, at Thieu, a magnificent view on the new Lift (which is gargantuan). We arrived at La Louviere late at night and after a terrible journey. The welcome we got was just what was needed - big smiles with the staff friendly and welcoming. We had booked a family room which was spacious, clean and the beds were super comfy. Breakfast was good, with good selection. This was a quick overnight stay for an onward journey so location with easy access to the motorway was perfect. Would definitely stay again.

The staff is exceptionally friendly, the rooms are spacious and clean, and the added perk of free parking is appreciated. Having a restaurant next door with great meal selection enhances the overall experience. The walking distance to one of the tallest boat lifts in Europe is a unique bonus. It's undoubtedly my favorite place to stay when visiting the area.

Staff at reception were (as always!) polite and helpful. Room was modern and a good size. We ate in the hotel for the first time (we normally eat in the restaurant next door) - not a large menu but more than met our expectations - the local beers served at the bar are excellent.
