Hotel is convenient to the historic town center and the train station. The room was spotlessly clean but a bit spartan. It was very nice to have the kitchenette. There was a large deck that we did not utilize as it was cold but should be lovely in the spring and summer. The breakfast was acceptable with a fresh fruit salad and freshly squeezed orange juice. In addition to cheese, ham and yogurt the host did offer scrambled eggs or a plain omelette.

Mechelen is a visually appealing small city with a fascinating history. I have visited two times previously and as it is within an easy train trip of the Brussels airport it is my preferred place to stay before taking a flight from Belgium. It has lots of attractions (climbing the tower in the cathedral is taxing), is easy to walk around and has lots of restaurants. On each of my visits I seem to have been fortunate to coincide with a musical event -perhaps they have a lot or maybe I was just lucky.
For beer and whiskey drinkers the local product from Carolus is well worth seeking out.

Beautiful city. Lots to see.
Beautiful city. Lots to see. Right between Antwerp and Brussels. Could easily use this as a home base for a week or more of exploring. Tons of places to eat and shop. Safe. Don't miss the old meat market that has been turned into multiple quick different places to eat. Relaxed and fun.

Mechelen proved to be a very attractive place, its lovely centre containing many beautiful old buildings. The cathedral is spectacular. There is a good choice of places to eat and drink, at reasonable prices. It's very quiet - almost eerily so in the daytime - and so a very relaxing place to wander around. It's also very handily placed for day trips to Brussels, Antwerp and Gent.

Mechelen has beautiful old churches, abbeys and other historical buildings and a few museums that are worth a visit. The cultural centre offered a beautiful photo exhibition 'We are Europe' and we had the luck to see a locally arranged fashion show on the city square.
The toy museum has a beautiful collection of old dolls and dollhouses as well as all kind of mechanical toys. The building is pretty outdated, but they are going to move the museum in a few months time.

A smallish town in central Belgium with a rich history. All the accommodations, historical sites and cultural access, shopping options of a much larger town without being overrun by tourists.
Highly recommend for booklovers and history nerds.

Hotel is located very close to all the amenities in the beautiful Mechelen city including a super market, coffee shops, restaurants, nature walk, bus stop etc. We had a smooth and quick check in and out. The neighbourhood is quiet especially during nights. Bed is very comfy and bath/show room is provided with all the required toiletries from RITUALS.
Nice and cosy family hotel. Missis Van Malcot is very helpful and prepares a delicious breakfast. The place is close to the Zoo and gives and opportunity to discover the beautiful countryside near Mechelen. We highly recommend it!
