The breakfast was great, and the people working there were some of the best, especially a few folks I would name here: Gabriela, Amanda, Rui, Geovan, Bianca, Monique, and Carlos. On top of this, the people at the reception were also great, especially Laura, Daniel, Hugo and Mayra. I could tell stories about each of them during my stay there, such a pleasure staff. The hotel location is good if you have a car or are ok to take Ubers every where. I rent a car and was able to leave in front of the hotel for free, but they also have a valet that could park for you. It's close from the Barra da Tijuca beach, but not too close you could walk. There is a BRT station right in front but it's a bit scary to get there specially at night, no one is around.

Sassy City of Samba

Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.

Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.

The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – it's unforgettable, but the fun doesn't end there. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, where trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.

Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take a cable car up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.

We absolutely loved Rio.

We absolutely loved Rio. The energy of the city is hard to beat — buzzing, warm, and full of life from morning to night. Ipanema and Arpoador beaches were our favourites, especially catching sunset from the rocks at Arpoador with the whole crowd applauding as the sun went down. The views from Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer are every bit as spectacular as people say. Getting around was easy enough with rideshares, and the food was a highlight — fresh seafood, great coffee, and plenty of lively spots to eat and drink. A bit of common-sense awareness about your surroundings goes a long way, but we always felt welcome. Easily one of the best trips we've taken, and we can't wait to come back.

We have stayed in Rio twice and stayed in Ipanema both times. Plenty of choices for food and drink and felt safe there. Great place for shopping if that's what you enjoy. We would also recommend Leblon. A bit smaller but very nice and a lot to offer.

One of the most beautiful cities on the planet.

One of the most beautiful cities on the planet. If not THE most beautiful metropolis. Combines numerous beatiful beaches, tropical rain forest, and mountains with wonderful views. Tourists are mostly well looked-after, and for those tourists who employ reputable guides, there are safe, interesting and enjoyable places to visit, along with an exciting music and sports scene. In my opinion, the only comparable city to come anywhere near Rio as a tourist destination is Sydney, Australia, and I have no regrets at choosing Rio as the place to live and work for over 20 years.

Rio is a fantastic city! A real gem. A true party atmosphere almost everywhere. There is so much to do and see. Our experiences included; Christ the Redeemer, Praça General Osório market, Sugar Loaf Mountain, a long hike from Copacabana to Leblon along the beaches, a city tour, rooftop restaurant stop, samba evening, Selaron steps, Largo do Boticário, the Bohemian Santa Teresa area and a drive through a lower economic community area (at the insistence of our guide) which was really worthwhile. We were told not to call them favelas. Foodwise, we tried everything from a Michelin star restaurant, Brazilian steakhouse to Afro Brazilian cuisine. Amazing city! Why would anyone want to leave?

The location of this hotel is excellent, a block away from the Fairmont. Just steps from Copacabana beach and a quick uber ride from major destinations. Ipanema is a longer walk but posto 7 is a short 10-15 min walk. The room facilities are amazing and they offer usb charging a big desk, and spacious restroom. The value for the money is exceptional, and I have no regrets. Do not pay attention to the bad reviews.
