United StatesWonderful location on Ilha Gigoia. Very cool to be on this special little island hidden in the middle of Rio. We originally meant to stay four days but extended to a week. Sergio and the other staff were very kind and helpful. Comfortable bed, good bathroom, perfect little kitchen set up. Next door to market with all basic food items, plus lots of restaurants and bars. We loved our stay and hope to come back soon!

Sassy City of Samba
Home of samba, Brazil’s 2nd largest city is sassy, seductive and spectacular. The Rio Carnival is legendary the world over for outrageous costumes and infectious rhythms.
Host of the 2014 World Cup final in Maracanã stadium and the 2016 Olympics and Paralympics, Rio de Janeiro is forward-thinking. High rises line Ipanema beach and you can find dozens of rollerbladers on the promenades at any time.
The hottest spot is Copabacana, a great place to try biscoito globo, a typical Rio beach snack. Sip a caipirinha here while the sun sets over the bay and mountains – it's unforgettable, but the fun doesn't end there. Clubbing in Rio is fantastic and ranges from techno to traditional bossa nova. Bohemian beats can be found in Santa Teresa and Lapa, where trams pass over a double-arched viaduct.
Overlooking all this from Corcovado mountain is iconic Christ the Redeemer, welcoming the world to Rio with arms outstretched. Take a cable car up to this statue on the edge of lush Tijuca Park for incredible views. Accessed by cable car, Sugar Loaf Mountain is also not to be missed.
Rio de Janeiro Airport is well linked to the ‘ Marvelous City’, but traffic can be manic, so leave enough time to reach it from your Rio hotel, apartment or hostel booked through Booking.com.

We experienced Rio de Janeiro as a city in the jungle.
We experienced Rio de Janeiro as a city in the jungle. It's unique beach sides, the mountains and green trees everywhere embrace the colonial buildings and the traffic. Lot's of birds and wildlife is still around you.
Tips:
- Book a stay at Chex Georges and walk around in Santa Terasa
- Take an Uber to Ipanema and walk along the boulverad and beach.
- Lunch at ZaZá in Ipanema. Nice service, greet food
- Have Dinner at Aprazivel. We enjoyed high quality vegetarian dishes
- Visit the Mosteiro de Sao Bento, a small baroque church with a wonderful interior.
P.s. We have only visited for 3 days so much more to do and to see.

Rio is great, especially Leblon and Ipanema.
Rio is great, especially Leblon and Ipanema. Safe, vibrant, easy to get arpund by walking or uber. Lots of red flag days for swimming in September and water temps are about 70 degrees F.
Lots of great shops and restaurants - relaxed and friendly vibe.

Rio is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
Rio is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Wonderful beaches and a plethora of tourist activities to visit. If possible schedule a visit to one of the Samba Schools to witness the Carnaval warmup (ensaios). Just need to be smart when on the streets... leave anything flashy back home.

What a great city. Copacababa beach is heavily policed.
What a great city. Copacababa beach is heavily policed. Saw no crimes at all. Everyone working in the cabanas and selling on the sides are happy and very polite.
We hiked up Christ the Redeemer with a guide. Hiked up Morro da Urca by ourselves and caught the cable car to the next level to have cocktails and eat dinner while watching the sunset.
Did a walking tour through a town in Santa Teresa, Selaron steps and Cinelândia.
We also did a sunset sailing tour which was amazing!!
Lots of great restaurants in Copacabana and we used Uber and once a yellow taxi which was well priced too.

We spent only 4 days in Rio in September and unfortunately...
We spent only 4 days in Rio in September and unfortunately it was rainy and cloudy. Even Cristo Redendor was not visible out of the clouds to address the weather issue. Bad luck! Even with this weather we were able to enjoy Ipanema and Copacabana beaches there are some good places to eat and drink tasty Caipirinhas (not too many!) Then spent a lot of time in city bars and restaurants (look for the ones with churrasco and take a deep dive into local interactions - totally worth it). Other places: Botanical Garden and a lot of museums are worth a try. One bitter remark - homelessness is a problem in Rio and every corner you can see struggling people sleeping on the streets. Hopefully governor can take care of this issue. Aside of this, on the beaches you can be sure to be bothered at least 3 times a minute to buy stuff from plenty of petty entrepreneurs. They are kind and positive most of the time but after half an hour it becomes annoyance. Aside of this Rio is a fantastic place to be - city gifted by beautiful nature, landscapes and people!

Rio was truly amazing and the fulfilment of a long-held dream. There was something special about strolling along Copacabana Beach, listening to the music, soaking up the atmosphere, and enjoying cocktails as the sun set. The breathtaking views across the city from Sugarloaf Mountain were unforgettable, and visiting the colourful Selarón Steps provided a wonderful glimpse into Rio’s vibrant culture and energy. It was an experience that exceeded expectations and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Lovely old hotel that is located at a perfect location with walking access to both Copacabana and Ipanema. When we arrived the staff was helpful, especially Pedro ! Helped us figure out the car parking and any questions we had. We booked the delux room and The room was a good size. Felt very safe during our stay with best part being you can leave all your valuables in the hotel and go for a swim to the beach. Lastly the breakfast was excellent so I highly recommend to opt for it.

What a fantastic place to stay in Rio! It’s spacious and light, tastefully decorated, absolutely safe … and the view is just jaw-dropping. We spent there a whole week and didn’t want to leave. The location is great, close to both Ipanema and Copacabana, and Lagoa itself is so nice. Unhotel team was in touch all the time and helped with our needs. Highly recommend!

We had a junior suite as we wanted a good amount of space to chill when at the hotel compared to smaller rooms in ipanema, Leblon and Copacabana so that was great. Great view of the sea which was amazing to be fair, and loads of room in the place.
The gym is also very cool, and a good amount of weights machines and cardio too with a great view of the sea.

The location is a key selling point of this hotel right on the Copacabana beach and walkable to Ipanema and Sugar loaf mountain too.
There is a small pool on the roof terrace and there are loungers and exceptional views here too.
