Lovely avant-garde techy decor and room controls. Extremely comfortable and well thought out spaces. Very relaxing lobby area, great atmosphere, variety of seating options and pool table or board games. Staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Underground car park with fast easy access to lobby. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting up with friend here. Bar access at one end and cafe at other. Fully recommended!

FAQs about hotels in Calgary

Western Culture East of the Rockies

Set on plains dominated by the Rockies, Calgary shot to international fame as first Canadian host of the Winter Olympics. The Olympic Park is still used for skiing and summer events, and also houses Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Speed skating and ice hockey matches thrill crowds in the Olympic Oval, whereas NHL games kick off at the Saddledome, an arena on the Calgary Stampede grounds, site of a huge 10-day rodeo and Western festival. The neighbouring river meets the Bow River by Fort Calgary, a former Mountie outpost. The zoo is on one of the river’s islands, while Prince’s Island Park overlooks the downtown skyscrapers.

Calgary Tower offers far-reaching views, and Stephen Avenue at its feet is lined with restaurants and bars. 17 Avenue also offers good nightlife, while the Chinook Centre and Barclay Parade have a host of stores. The Core shopping centre includes Devonian Gardens, reportedly the world’s largest indoor gardens.

Other attractions include Telus Spark science centre, the eclectic Glenbow Museum and Heritage Park, where a paddle steamer and steam train transport you to Calgary of yesteryear.

Calgary Airport is near the city centre, and Booking.com offers luxury hotels with airport shuttles, cheap motels, and B&Bs with parking. If you’re lucky, you might even see the Northern Lights from your accommodation.

Calgary is a wonderful multicultural city.

Calgary is a wonderful multicultural city. There is so much to do here and all with a stunning mountain backdrop. It’s very easy to get around either by car or public transport. There is a world class zoo that is a beautiful place to walk around right in the heart of the city. Fantastic shopping, great little boutiques to huge malls like Crossirons and many activities for families. Tons of great restaurants from the big chains like Earls to excellent cafes like Cafe Alforno. Also everyone is super friendly!

The city is so clean! There are workers sweeping cigarettes butts off sidewalks, others washing cement sitting. Beautiful building structures. Art sculptures on many street corners . Lots of green space and parks to enjoy. We didn't make it to the Zoo, but hopefully next time.

Volleyball Natonals at BMO were easily accessible from the Grand Hotel and the facility was exceptional for hosting the event. The new developments were great to see especially the Westman Village area. Alaveda Market was pretty interesting and a great place to have a meal from a different country. I used the LRT during a previous visit to Calgary and it was a great way to get around.

Beautiful city, lots of amazing places to visit and restaurants to try. A must-try in Calgary is GinSoy, an extreme Chinese restaurant serving delicious, mouth-watering dishes, and Rahat Bakery for authentic South Asian treats. For places to visit, Telus Park, the downtown Calgary Public Library, and the Calgary Zoo are great options for families.

Hotel was nice and staff were friendly. The room was spacious and the balcony had a nice view even though we were only on the 4th / 5th floor. It was quite quiet at night and we did get a good night sleep. The bed was huge and a really good size! Great location in downtown Calgary and a short walk to Calgary tower.
