We went to Kelowna for a wedding.
We went to Kelowna for a wedding. Traveling through Kelowna is a chore. You are on the highway, but it has lights everywhere and despite 2-3 lanes, the traffic is busy. The city allowed businesses to come to the highway so it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to over 60 minutes to travel from W Kelowna to E Kelowna; poorly designed mayor/council/civil engineers!
I'm from Vancouver Island, so all the brown hills are not impressive to me. It was prettier at night. There is a nice board walk "downtown" and a section has been left for native plants/trees. There are marinas and lots of green space.
There are tons of vineyards and wineries; the wedding we attended June 2024 was at Off The Grid Organic winery. The views of the lake from up on the hill were lovely. It was a good place for a wedding and was sunny and warm.
We also went to Scandia minigolf (FUN) and the Kangaroo Creek Farm which was excellent! Many of the animals are surrender pets and they have lots of trained handlers that gave us tons of information and told us how to touch (or not touch) various animals. They have sugar gliders which are the most adorable creatures. The one we played with leapt from her handler to us and crawled up our shoulder and nuzzled in "spaces". Super cute and a highlight of our stay in Kelowna.

It is a hostel after all.
It is a hostel after all. The staff was incredibly friendly, but the other guests were quite loud, even during the supposedly "quiet hours".
If you get a top bunk, there are no outlets to charge your devices.
The toilet were ok but the bathroom was horrible: hair around and in the sink and drain, faucet were disgusting and not cleaned.

The city of Kelowna is beautiful and has everything a traveller should need. Beaches, many Restaurants and hotels down town with a great variety within walking distance, many shops etc. But prices are very expensive there for everything. A vehicle is a must to get to most attractions because it is spread out. Many vehicle rental companies at the Airport, and some bike rentals down town. I did notice some boat excursions trips offered but I didn't use. Taxi is available but I didn't need any because I had a rental vehicle

I personally live in Kelowna but my home was sold to developers and have been basically homeless for 4 months so that’s why I’ve been staying at hotels.
Kelowna is a nice place , just living here is tough . Years ago they called Kelowna “Canada’s Hawaii” because of our beautiful weather. Getting around Kelowna is easy I would say . Traffic is crazy in the summer with only one bridge in and out of town towards Penticton or Van .

The breakfast was very good - the best French toast I've ever had! The pool area is very nice. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was very good. The owner and her son-in-law looked after us very well under difficult circumstances (Kelowna being shut down thanks to forest fires)
In close walking distance to numerous eateries. Our room
Room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed our stay and would choose this hotel if visiting Kelowna in the future.
