On the south bank of the Ottawa River, the Canadian capital Ottawa is a grand symbol of what the country stands for: bilingualism, civic pride and wonderful vistas.
Facing Langevin Block (the prime minister’s office) is the city’s most famous landmark - the Centre Block parliament building. Its tall central tower and circular parliamentary library make a great photograph from Gatineau across the river, which is joined to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Rideau Canal by a series of locks. Skating on the frozen canal is a highlight of the huge Ottawa Winterlude festival.
The city’s history is detailed in Bytown Museum by the locks. Opposite is peaceful Major’s Hill Park, overlooked by Château Laurier, a historic hotel named after a former prime minister. Also named after him is Laurier House, his seat of office. Other important national buildings include the Royal Canadian Mint, Supreme Court, and Rideau Hall, the Queen’s official residence when in the country.
The business district and Ottawa Convention Centre are in Downtown, and nearby shopping options include Rideau Mall and ByWard Market - the oldest farmers’ market in Canada and the area with the best nightlife.
Ottawa accommodation on Booking.com includes luxury hotels with pools, B&Bs with parking and apartments near the train station, all easily accessible from MacDonald-Cartier Airport.
Fall colors were spectacular. Seem to have scaffolding and cranes around most of the landmarks I wanted to photograph so I didn’t. Byward market area was bustling - enjoyed the visit there.
It was a holiday weekend so my drive around the city was easy.

It's a nice, scenic walkable city.
It's a nice, scenic walkable city. Food was more expensive than used to in Arizona, but likely typical of big cities. Staying at a hotel with full breakfast really helped.
Easy to get around with Uber or car rental from Enterprise.
The ByWard market was very disappointing vs a true marketplace & not worth even walking through.

There is a lot to see in a very small area.
There is a lot to see in a very small area. It's a very walkable city. People were very friendly. It is very easy to get around. Hop on hop off bus is a good way to see a lot of the surroundings, if only in town for a short time, tour guides very knowledgeable. If arriving by train the local transit station is right next door and gets you down town very quickly about 3.75 CAD for one journey. Plenty places to eat and drink especially down Sparks street which is pedestrianised. Parliament Hill is well worth a visit as is The Rideau locks, all close to each other

Great place to visit.
Great place to visit. We loved the museums and going to Mass at Notre Dame Basilica. Highlights included the Rideau Canal, Bank of Canada Museum, Museums of Nature and Science, and History. Lots of lovely walks to admire the fairylike Victorian Renaissance architecture.

Current state of on going construction, road work, major issues on the 417, visiting Ottawa is a real pain. Nothing but Traffic jams every where even on Sundays. I avoided the 417 after i got into stop and no go traffic
on Sunday(unbelievable), avoid 417 for the rest of our trip. As to local road, major issues in the morning and in the evening, unbelievable.
I was there last year and stayed at a hotel in the east end. I need to get to center town / By ward Market and Bank street area need to use 417, surprised by traffic/construction and blocked exist and entrance ramps on the 417.
Also watch for traffic cams for speed and parking. Always wonderful to get the mail traffic ticket.

We are at Lone star bar and grill. It was more like Mexican dining. It was good but a bit pricy. We ate at Hong Kong kitchen which was by our hotel (the Hampton by Hilton), and it was awesome. We didn't see much of ottawa as I was there for an event. Clean city

I love the location which is very closed to VIA rail station. It is about 10 - 15 minutes walk from the station to the hotel.
A metro station is next to the VIA rail station, the metro line will take you to downtown within 20 minutes.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Great gym and laundry facilities.
The restaurant on the ground level is great.
Extremely kind and friendly service, very accommodating and helpful with me leaving my luggage a little late. The breakfast was excellent, and can be suited to your taste (also some snacks provided). Extremely close to downtown Ottawa and all the major sights.
This hotel is very well located in downtown Ottawa. The suite was clean and generously sized, offering separate living areas and a kitchenette. Even a full desk, computer and printer were provided in the room. A simple breakfast was offered.
The hotel is amazingly designed and very clean. Staff are so professional and friendly. The location is great in the heart of Ottawa downtown and right in front of Rideau Centre. We really enjoyed our stay.
The hotel is well situated in downtown Ottawa near everything. Breakfast was very good, but the restaurant was closed for lunch. Did not eat there for dinner. Would choose this hotel again.
