Ukee is a great little town.
Ukee is a great little town. Although we bought a piece of art there, it offers much wilderness than shopping opportunities.
In addition to its unpretentious charm, Ukee offers a more pocket-friendly experience than its neighbour, Tofino, in our experience (although everything is more expensive here than the rest of Vancouver Island.)
However, both places have incredible beaches and forests, and bookend the National Park with a trail between the two towns.
Just be warned that the last part of the highway is an adventure before you decide to turn left to go to Ukee or right to go to Tofino.
I loved driving it with my "Mario Andretti" mindset, which wasn't that pleasant for my husband, LOL.
It's windy, narrow, and bumpy in parts, and if you have a slow poke in front of you (which we had on the way back), it can be incredibly frustrating.

I loved Ucluelet a whole lot more than Tofino, it isn't as touristy and "plastic", like the difference between Banff and Jasper, I always prefer the place closer to nature. Maybe doesn't have all the sandy beaches, but one can easily drive to it. I'd love it if the information about the length of the walks to beaches etc. were more clear, even on the hike, like where we are now and how long to go etc. Beauty in abundance, I loved every minute of it, I remembered it from 10 years ago and it was even better now. I'd love to come back for more and be able to just sit and listen to the ocean. Please, please don't let it become Tofino where you can't enjoy what rightfully belongs to the public without paying more than you can afford! I love Ucluelet! <3

Ukee is great place to visit any time of the year.
Ukee is great place to visit any time of the year. The beaches are more rugged than Tofino which makes for dramatic storm watching on windy days. There are some good restaurants and a grocery store, liquor store etc. If you're looking for raging night life, this is not the place. If you're into being outside, it's great. There are tons of trails, beaches and lookouts to explore.

Loved the proximity to the ocean. Great hiking trails in the area and quite a few good restaurants. Enjoyed the low key, unpretentious vibe. We aren’t surfers but it looks like a fantastic place to surf.

Black Rock Resort was an amazing boutique hotel to visit.
Black Rock Resort was an amazing boutique hotel to visit. Their restaurant was so good I ate there 3 times!
Drift Spa at the resort swept me away with four hours of endless Thalassotherapy. They use the cleanest, best skincare on the planet, Seaflora Skincare. Loved my treatments and left stocked up on Seaflora.
Pluvio Restaurant was an experience of its own. We spent 3.5hrs slow food feasting. Peach salmon, hum dogs, pork belly and so many tasty artistic plates that gave us food babies! The chef is truly an artist the way he presents his flavour creations. At one point he gave us these deep fried tomato slice shaped pastry with salmon roe and a creamy sauce… perfect sweet n savory we talked about it for hours!
Pacific Trail was nice, South Beach, Wyat Point… it was all a really nice experience. Heartwood Cafe traditional Benny used real pea meal bacon, which no one out west seems to know about - but that’s how u make a real eggs Benny. Ukee has it all.
We came there for the first two days of our honeymoon and it was an amazing stay that we will remember forever. The views are gorgeous right when you walk in the house, and in the room. The (Atlantis)room was beautiful and cozy. You wake up and can see the ocean right from your bed. The breakfast delivered was delicious. The hosts were very kind and great to visit with. We would 100% stay there again if we come back to Ucluelet.
Spacious, well-maintained, has all that we needed and more to complete a relaxing atmosphere regardless of outside weather. In-room Bath tub and shower are available. Very convenient budget accommodation option for staying outside of Tofino but within 30min driving range. Glenn and Dianna were quite helpful with self-check in procedures and prompt in responding. Very welcoming hosts.
If you're looking for a nice, very clean and comfortable place to stay and don't mind that the suite is attached to the home of the owners, it's an excellent choice of stay for Ucluelet. Downtown is walking distance with plenty of food and drink options also within walking distance. We did enjoy our stay there and will recommend to others but I don't think we will return ourselves.
This is a fabulous property, right by a creek. It is quiet with great facilities and a caretaker on site who responded very quickly to our request for an iron and ironing board. It is well situated in Ucluelet. Loved it. While you are here recommend an Archipelago Wildlife Cruise and for a special dinner - Pluvio (pre-booking needed).
The position is outstanding, incredible views from every window and perfect for storm watching. There is a trail from the hotel and the beach on your doorstep. The rooms are huge and the bathroom was spectacular. The bar was brilliant and the food in there is the best the hotel does.
The location was excellent. Quiet with a fabulous view from the cathedral windows. The suite was clean, comfortable and well furnished. Ucluelet is less touristy than Tofino and has the wonderful Wild Coast Trails which we enjoyed.
great view from the comfortable room (pictures here do not do the view justice). tasty light breakfast every morning. perfect peaceful vacation in Ucluelet. definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Ucluelet and Torino area.
Large room w two large beds, full bathroom and small livingroom..it was a small apartment really. Fridge and coffee maker w complimentary coffee. Comfie. Super clean. Nice tub. Very good value vs. other offerings in Ucluelet.
Clean, comfortable and beautifully maintained.
Super peaceful stay to unwind in the glorious surroundings of Ucluelet and Tofino. The sauna and hot tub were a massive bonus, as was the welcome prosecco!
It came with a friendly cat and was pet friendly. I asked for a simple breaky but what was delivered would have cost 25 dollars in a restaurant. I wish i was rich enuf to live there all summer/
The location and views of the ocean from my windows were outstanding. I appreciated the easy access to the Wild Pacific Trail and downtown Ucluelet was within easy walking distance.
Perfect stay, easy to find, parking spot right in front of the house. The accommodation was as advertised, it was very clean, bed was very comfortable, had everything we needed.
Place was relatively clean and had good amenities. I like that the place was quiet. It is centrally located in Ucluelet and close to shopping restaurants and stores.
Loved it being so pet friendly!
Location was amazing: close to shops, trails and restaurants/pubs.
Beautiful views, balcony, warm rooms, microwave in room.
We loved the layout of the suite with a kitchenette that was useful for our 5 day stay. Location near the natural harbour of Ucluelet is quite spectacular.
