FAQs about hotels in Vancouver

Outstanding Capital of the Outdoors

Vancouver is an outdoorsy city ranking among the world’s most livable, sheltered by Vancouver Island and the Pacific Range mountains. The most famous peak, Grouse Mountain, is a favorite spot for hiking and skiing. Take the cable car up for magnificent views of the city's skyscrapers and huge Stanley Park.

Skirting this park is the Seawall, a popular biking trail with paths passing the Vancouver Aquarium, picnic spots and a pitch and putt course. There are also a couple of beaches, but the best ones are along English Bay in Kitsilano.

Granville Island is just across False Creek from Yaletown and houses some quirky shops and markets. Ferries depart from here to near BC Place Stadium and home field of the city’s football and soccer teams. The legendary Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team play next door at Rogers Arena.

With the largest Chinatown in North America, Gastown is the oldest part of Vancouver and is near the Canada Place cruise ship terminal.

We could go on and on about British Columbia's biggest city, but we could never do it justice, so why not try it for yourself? Booking.com has a fabulous range of accommodations, from hotels near Vancouver Airport in Richmond to downtown B&Bs and motels near all of its ferry ports.

The bike path around the island was great, walking around looking at Cherry blossoms was awesome. Being near the mountains and some great hiking is amazing. We went on a boat ride to Vancouver Island to see The Butchart Gardens which was amazing. We would like to go back and go on a whale watching cruise. We did get to see the bears on the mountain that they rescued as. they had just woken up from their long winter nap.

Our accommodations were horrible but we did do a couple of incredible things in Vancouver before we arrived there. The Flyover Canada will be embedded in my memory forever. I got off the ship and did the first one at 10am. It was incredible. Next we dropped our luggage with the Suspension Bridge people and headed up to another breathtaking adventure. When we were dont, we picked up our luggage and headed to the worst rental we have ever had. Thank God we had such a great time at the Flyover and Suspension Bridge. do a tour with an Uber and saw a ton.

Vancouver is a very walkable city.

Vancouver is a very walkable city. The sea wall means a visitor can walk all round the edge of Downtown taking in sights like False Creek, English Bay and the marina at Coal Harbour leading to Canada Place. Within one or two blocks of the walkway there are plenty of cafés and restaurants. There are lots of trees and seating areas and great photo opportunities. It is one of my favourite cities. Stores that may have suffered during covid are being re-occupied and there is a genuine feel of investment and renewal judging by the many cranes currently operating around the city. It is Canada so of course everyone is polite and most helpful and although the roads are busy driving into and out of the city is straightforward and pedestrians have safe routes around also.

Very dynamic city with plenty for all adventurers.

Very dynamic city with plenty for all adventurers. Stanly Park is a must visit and there are plenty of electric powered cycles to be had. There is not shortage of cafe's and restaurants serving dishes from about the globe and multi-colored Lattes with exotic names can be found at various locations but I would recommend Perfecto Cafe on Robson Street.

Oh, wow, Vancouver is FANTASTIC! Such friendly people. Even the animals are friendly. Shady, tree-lined streets everywhere. We MUST return to take in more of the city, with side-trips to see more of British Columbia.

Came from Arizona visit friends. We enjoyed the Queen Elizabeth Park and UBC Botanical Garden is outstanding! The restaurants around Fraser and Main were excellent. Traffic was congested and construction made it more challenging to follow a timeframe! We understand parking is an issue and appreciated the offer stree parking at our guest house.

What a gem of a hotel! For a cheaper older hotel, this one is an absolute gem - exceptional value for money, and I would rate it better on every aspect than the luxury hotel we stayed in for one night at the end of our stay in Vancouver. The location is perfect, 2 mins to the waterfront, quiet at night, and within easy walking of everything (as is pretty much everything in Vancouver central to be fair). The staff on the front desk were exceptional - helped us book trips, hire bikes, gave excellent cafe recommendations!

HI Vancouver Downtown Hostel is a functional, safe, and well-located base for Vancouver. While the price is high for a hostel, that reflects Vancouver’s hotel crunch more than the hostel itself. If you value location, security, and the option to self-cater over luxury, this hostel can work—just book early and manage expectations about noise, ventilation, and shared space etiquette. ✅ Best for: Budget-conscious solo travelers, couples, and Gen-Xers who don’t mind hostel quirks.

The hotel was exceptionally clean and quiet. We weren't disturbed whatsoever during our stay, even though there is construction on the road below. The hotel is very close to Rogers arena and many bars and restaurants downtown. It's also within walking distance to most bus routes and the skytrain if needing to travel outside of Vancouver. Extremely convenient location with very personable staff.
