Victoria is a beautiful city. We were able to experience most of it on foot and bicycle. People were so kind and we felt safe the whole time. We also used city transit which is very clean and safe. Very impressed with our overall visit and I hope I can get back to see more. On a side note, we were there in April and many things were closed on Mondays. And a lot of the city doesn't open until 10 am even on regular work days. One of our favorite things was Fishermans Wharf. The food and atmosphere were fantastic!

A nice place to spend a quiet weekend away from the hustle...
A nice place to spend a quiet weekend away from the hustle and bustle of Vancouver. Downtown is easy to navigate with a lot of options to dine - restaurants, cafes and bars. Don't miss Milano coffee shop. The coffee and breakfast items are amazing. There are a couple of gluten-free and dairy-free options too. You won't need a car if you plan to explore the city but may need one to get there from Vancouver as it's a solid 30 minutes drive from Swartz Bay. All types of cuisines available in downtown - Canadian, Indian, Asian, Italian, fine dining, fast food etc. One sad thing though is that there were people sleeping in front of stores during the night. They did not look like junkies and rather just unfortunate to be in that situation. It was safe to wander about in the night but would not suggest to stretch your luck late into the night.

Very safe, clean, driving not an issue, many to see and do and surprisingly inexpensive. Buchart Garden is a must see. Having tea time or a little bite with a glass of wine at the Empress is a great experience. Driving along the Fisherman's Wharf up.to those beautiful homes and communities is a great feeling.....positive thoughts in life.

What were your favorite spots?
What were your favorite spots? Use to be along Dallas Rd. and was so proud Dallas Rd. allowed dogs to walk along with their owners but now they are segregated to a muddy field. Where did you eat? So many places and atmospheres to choose from, from ethnically infused restaurants to funky places. Awesome place for breakfast is "John's Place" and if you're celiac "Six Mile Pub". Is getting around Victoria easy? Driving down town is a test of your patience. Lights stop you every second block, left turns jam up traffic flow to traffic jams caused by crammed streets made worse with bike lanes also impact parking. What would you avoid next time? down town > Use to be that Victoria was like a shiny penny but that is no longer the case. Street are not clean and the city no longer caters to the average visitor, instead the street people and beggars rule the roost. Speaking to other they feel the same which even includes those who live there. One resident stated they never go downtown because of the filth and harassment. So sad, because I was one of the biggest cheerleaders for Victoria.

I have the benefit of being a tourist as well as a former resident of Victoria. I know where to go to maximize my visits, which often take place in the winter months as a way to escape the cold and snow at home. On that note, February is a great time to experience Vancouver Island because the flowers are beginning to bloom. Victoria is a lovely city to walk around, but I would highly recommend heading up-island if you have time and explore more of the island. It's stunningly beautiful everywhere you look!
This hotel is located right on the inner harbour across from downtown Victoria but joined by the West Bay walkway connecting you right around to downtown. The staff are friendly and inviting. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. The beds are so comfortable with the most amazing, cozy bedding. The drapes enclose the room in complete darkness for the best sleep. The covid protocols in place have been very well thought out. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel!
coffee machine was excellent, together with the fridge and microwave, room was overall excellent, cleanliness and neatness was immensely impressive, very courteous, professional, friendly staff, and Excellent Location at the heart of downtown Victoria, everything such as restaurants, supermarkets, drugstores, malls all NEARBY, Government Avenue, and Douglas Avenue - major avenues in Victoria just beside Hotel Rialto you could take the buses anytime
The whole experience was exceptional. Cindy sent us messages beforehand providing us with all the information we required. Johnny greeted us when we arrived. The room felt more like a home and the bed was super comfy. The location is minutes away from downtown with the Parliament buildings, BC museum and the harbour all on your doorstep. If you are looking for something more than a bog standard hotel Robert Porter House Inn is the place for you.
This is the BEST hotel in Victoria. The staff, the location and the ambiance are perfection. You can get to everywhere in the downtown location. The harbor is right in front of the hotel so all of the sightseeing opportunities are right in front of you. The bar and the restaurant are amazing. try the gin cocktail.
I really enjoyed my one night stay here. The place was perfectly clean and tidy. Best of all, it was very quiet and comfortable, I was happy with how well rested I felt. The location is some distance away from the Victoria core, but I would highly prefer to stay here again compared to the more popular hotels.
Abigail's Hotel far exceeded my expectations. It was exactly the Victorian style bed and breakfast that I was hoping for. In fact the room, common areas and gardens were better than in the pictures. In addition, the service was impeccable with super friendly staff. Their breakfast and snack was also good.
Like the location, restaurant and pub right in the hotel with great menu. We also like the old style of the hotel, very authentic. This is our second time we stayed there, and probably will stay again when we go to Victoria. Just 10 minutes walking to downtown and 5 minutes walk to Beacon Hill Park.
The location of this hotel is perfect for exploring the city on foot. It is central to the waterfront and the pedestrian zone in downtown. The staff are very professional yet friendly. I wouldn't stay anywhere else for a visit to central Victoria.
Booking.com rate was $30 more than front desk rate, will call hotel first next time
Hotel was pet friendly though pet room was bit rough compared to others. Overall great location to walk to downtown. Staff very nice. Parking was good.
older but extremely stylish house with appartments, great host, excellent breakfast and the location was perfection. I have never given 10 out of 10 and we have mostly stayed in hotels in Victoria. now we want to return to prior castle in
superb boutique hotel with helpful and courteous staff. Breakfasts were excellent . Great central location within walking distance to the wharf and downtown area. Very clean and well supplied room amenities. Will be returning
Room was large and comfortable, and the location of the hotel near Victoria Harbour and the Provincial Legislature was nice. The included breakfast, which had eggs, bacon and sausage, provided value for money.
We choose to stay at this hotel every time we go to Victoria. We love the location, being walking distance to all the downtown amenities is a big plus. Staff is friendly and the rooms are spacious and clean.
This property was located right downtown with easy access to everything. The suite was well supplied and the owners obviously take pride in their property. It was one of the best days I’ve had in Victoria!
