The rooms were super clean, comfortable, and well prepared. Although the bathrooms were shared they were also in great condition and very cutesy. Though the center of town is a bit away we were given a public transport card through the hotel which was perfect for exploring!

Set on slopes by Lake Geneva, Lausanne is a laidback and liveable city. The views of the lake and dramatic peaks of the Alps are simply stunning, especially from Sauvabelin Tower in the northern woods.
Surrounded by vineyards, this is an outdoor lifestyle city great for sports including sailing, cycling and hiking. In fact, many international sporting governing bodies and the International Olympic Committee are based here. There is also an excellent Olympic Museum. In winter, Lausanne skiing options include the Jura Mountains to the north-west, and the Valais canton south-west of the lake.
By the lake (Lac Léman in French) is the Ouchy port area, home to many of the Lausanne hotels and restaurants. To the north is the Flon district, known for its lively nightlife popular with students.
The cobbled Old Town – the Cité – is a Swiss Heritage Site on a hill at the city’s highest point. It houses the castle and Lausanne Museum, both watched over by the multi-spired Notre-Dame cathedral. At the foot of the hill are 3 squares with markets, one of which – Place Riponne – is on the Metro.
This is the world’s smallest city with a Metro, an indicator of the wonderfully efficient Swiss transport system, meaning that Geneva Airport (the closest to Lausanne) is easily reachable.
The Metro train system works very well. I lived at Elite hotel and that was 4 train stops away from the University. Make sure to download the Metro App because it is very convenient to outline what train and/or bus you should use. Lausanne is built on a 3 hills (I was told by the tour guide) and prepare yourself for walking up hills. I highly recommend the tour of the old city. The views are spectacular.
Dinner eating melted cheese was a good experience.

Beautiful location. Scenic lake and snow capped peaks.
Beautiful location. Scenic lake and snow capped peaks. Interesting and historic cathedral. Lots of sightseeing options, though more of them in summer than winter. Boat trips on the lake, rail trips. Museums and galleries. It is easy to move around this relatively small city using the Metro. Metro has extra-safety screen that protects travellers from falling on the track.

Forget the image of chocolate, milk and honey flowing Heidi Land - reality is immigration wherever you walk trying to survive in this high priced society. Poor people in all corners giving a big contrast to the Luxury hotels on the lake. Dirty roads and city center with street food and beggars.

Lausanne is a beautiful city and has, lots of culture and history, the Olympic Museum, beautiful waterfront, great places to eat or have coffee. It's easy to get around using public transport. The public transport system is brilliant, and when you stay in a hotel you will be given a public transport card which enables you to travel unlimited journeys for free, on Metro and Bus and travel to the outskirts of Lausanne by train. This travel card is immensely helpful especially as the city is built on the side of a mountain. Be prepared to negotiate some very steep streets. My tip, take the Metro up to the next stop and walk down.
The city is set on the shore of lake Geneva, and offers stunning scenery, and is a short journey from the Unesco World heritage site of The Lavaux Vineyard Terraces and a little further to Montreux. The people mainly speak Swiss French and English.
I love Lausanne, I go there to visit family a couple time a year, and every time I go I find something different to enjoy.

Lovely beach town, with great public transit and well-curated museums. Breathtaking views of Lac Leman/Lake Geneva with plenty of options for watersports, cruising, or just relaxing on the beaches. The Olympic Museum is a must see, and the best deal is 3-day pass for 3 museums: Lausanne History Museum; Art Brut Collection; and the Roman Museum of Lausanne-Vidy.
Be prepared for lots of stairs and hikes, Lausanne is built on 3 hilltops and they can be steep! A hike (or bus ride!) up to the Hermitage is rewarded by amazing views, and a great cheese fondue at Le Chalet Suisse. On the way through the old city, reward yourself by stopping in to some of the chocolatiers,

Amazing location and value for money. The hotel is in a centre of Lausanne within walking distance to every major site. The underground station is really close as well. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean and pleasant and the staff was really nice. The price for this location is unbeatable!
The Agora is in an excellent location for Lausanne train station and a good spot for seeing Lausanne and Lake Leman. The staff were very helpful, speaking great English when needed, and the hotel had nice facilities. The room and bed were very modern and comfortable.
This was my third stay at this hotel. Previously, I enjoyed a nice room facing Lausanne train station, which is just a 1-minute walk away. The staff were good, friendly, and helpful.
The rooms are clean and quiet, even those facing the road.
Nice place in Lausanne, just next to the highway. To get to the city center, there is the metro station just 1 minute away from the hotel and it will get you to the city center in 10 minutes, which is very convenient, The place is pretty new.
This was a nice large room in an interesting hotel that is within 2-3 min. walking of the Lausanne train station. It served its purposes well. The staff are also very friendly.
