More than 30 years ago, the Hotel Unicornio Azul gave life to an old wooden house from the 20th century built in 1910.

Customer service was excellent. Staff were really kind. Beds were comfy and view over the water was lovely. There was an empañada stall right across the road and a restaurant next door, both of which were tasty and excellent value.

Boasting a garden, terrace and views of sea, ALMA CHILOTA is situated in Castro, 18 km from Nuestra Señora de los Dolores Church.

Nice view, great breakfast, it could be advertised that the cheaper room has no view and only a small window opening 10”to next door therefore no natural light. Beautifully done and lounge area lovely to sit in afternoon sun if in the above room.

Castro is a basic Chilloe town.

Castro is a basic Chilloe town. There is walking around the estuary and a beach on the opposite side. The national park with a board walk walk is 30 minutes drive. There are a couple of good restaurants. Two days was plenty of time

Castro, the main city on the enchanting Chiloé Island, boasts a picturesque bay area lined with iconic 'palafitos' – stilt houses. This unique setting offers a truly magical glimpse into the island's rich cultural heritage.

I'd been to Castro several times, but this was my first during high season, and I'd advise travelers that unless you like sitting in backed-up traffic ('taco') for long stretches, just avoid Castro from mid-January to late February, when trying to drive from anywhere north of Castro to anywhere south of Castro can take hours. November-December are great, however, and I'm told March is the best month of all. By and large, Chiloé's charms are not to be found in the cities.

Nice, atmospheric and tranquil place in beautiful surroundings. Attention from hotel staff was generally excellent during our stay. The manager on duty exceeded her normal working hours to solve a wifi connectivity issue the night we arrived. Furthermore we were contacted about a left item after departure with an offer to ship it. All strongly appreciated. The food was generally good, however still with a potential to lift the overall experience to an even higher level.

We enjoyed a double room for 3 nights on 2nd floor with a great view over the water front. It really was one of the best hotel views we have had in s-america. Rooms are basic, but ok.
