Modern luxury can be enjoyed at Park Plaza Wangfujing Beijing, within 13 minutes' drive of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City.

Location was perfect in the heart of the city but not directly on a busy road which made transportation to all the Beijing attractions easy and quick! Hotel is clean and spacious with helpful and accommodating staff (if you speak mandarin). Concierge desk was particularly kind and helpful with ordering food in on a rainy night and loaning a wheelchair out for our day activities.

Located in Beijing’s Silicon Valley, The Park Plaza Beijing Science Park Hotel offers easy access to attractions and affordable accommodations with free WiFi in the entire property.

This is an amazing hotel with excellent staff. I liked everything in the hotel. The only problem that I had during my stay was the AC. Because the room was cold, then I asked the reception staff about turning it off, but he told me that they cannot it because it is central. On my last day I discovered how to turn it off by not turning off the lights from the button. There is a button next to the bed, if you switch it off then AC starts. Very strange technique that unfortunately the staff at the reception do not know it or at the least the person I asked does not know it. Any way except this, it is an excellent hotel. Also, with an excellent breakfast with a lot of variety. Thank you all.

FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square, Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbors Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Across from Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Center for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys with traditional architecture, that contrast with wider, modern roads like Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the northeast.

We used a combination of metro+taxis to get around.

We used a combination of metro+taxis to get around. Metro is, as you can expect, fast and reliable, but crowded - most of the time we spent standing, and only sat down for the routes further away from center. For everything else, taxis are the best, because they are cheap compared to the Western world. Just remember to install Didi application first. Alipay is a must. Others say the same about Wechat but I survived without it. Prepare your phone before the trip as much as possible. For cell connection an E-SIM would be best, but if your phone doesn't support it, visit one of the network operator shops. I had a China Telekom SIM card - Whatsapp worked partially only - was able to exchange texts and phone calls, including video calls, but not send and receive media. GMaps somewhat worked - I could access my saved locations, and navigate to them (on foot) but not much besides that. Remember to always take your passport with you, they are not kidding around with the security checks. Cash is seldom used but it did save us when phone just refused to cooperate. Had some of the worst and some of the best meals ever. Translator was used in the former case and menus with pictures for the latter. Visit Happy Valley for some incredible roller coaster rides - expensive, but totally worth it.

A colossal city full of history.

A colossal city full of history. Lots and lots of people and vehicles. Traffic is always congested going in and out of, and within the city proper. Purchase admission tickets in advance and allow extra time to travel to destinations and waiting in line to get admitted. Learn to use the subway system and its fares are inexpensive. Once one manages the travel time requirements, there are too, too many options of sights, museums, eateries, special interest shopping, etc. to choose from.

This city is wonderful. 100% modern mixed with a local flavour and historical buildings. Very safe and also economical. Enjoy it before it changes. Not many people speak English but you have Google translate, so don't worry

I loved walking the streets of Beijing.

I loved walking the streets of Beijing. People were nice and even the ubiquitous police was nice and helpful. I made sure to carry my passport and make reservations to the major attractions and everything was fine. I got free tickets for being a senior, too.

    Beijing is a wonderful city.

Beijing is a wonderful city. People are very friendly and will go out of their way to be helpful. Most of the major attractions are accessible but getting around sadly isn't. We travelled with a wheelchair user and couldn't access most of the subway / trains. The over/under passess had ramps but some didn't have them them all the way down. Didi taxis were very cheap and we booked them to get around. The drivers are great and the little Chinese I can speak went a long way. I would like to visit again the parks are amazing.

If you want to visit Forbidden City or Great Wall, make sure you book a tour in advance with a personal guide. Getting tickets for entry and negotiating the crowds at the main attractions makes this a must.
