Excellent service from the front desk, concierge and restaurant (breakfast) team. Especially Kevin who was very helpful to us. In addition, the location is perfect to explore wangfujing area and very close to Zanbus tour that we used to go to Greatwall. Room was spacious and clean, and free self-operated laundry is provided on the 1st floor.

The reception had our heavy suitcases carried upstairs and back down (no elevator) and moved a couple times. For the double room originally assigned was too small and had to be upgraded for free. They booked our full-day tour of the Great Wall, multiple taxi rides, and a visit to the monumental Tian'Anmen Square. Unfortunately, the National Museum, which has several ongoing special exhibitions of great interest, was fully booked well beyond our departure date. So was Mao's Mausoleum. However, Zhong'an was the former home of Americans Helen and Edgar Snow, author of _Red Star over China: The Classic Account of the Birth of Chinese Communism_ and the first journalist brave enough to risk personal dangers to interview and introduce Chairman Mao to the outside world. It was a hotbed of revolutionary activity for Chinese students. The hotel has lifelike statues honoring the founding couple, and its walls are plastered with photos and notices highlighting their significance. Management actively promotes Snow's legacy through documentary shows in the evenings and a copy of his book is to be found in every room. So, it is like revisiting recent history that is still alive and controversial. Sunthar

FAQs about hotels in Beijing

From Chinese Dynasties to Cultural Dynamics

A world-renowned gem, sprawling Beijing has magnificent monuments and peaceful parks. At its heart is the world’s largest square, Tiananmen, surrounded by important museums and the amazing Forbidden City. This 15th-century, walled complex of palaces neighbors Jingshan Park and Beihai Park with its imperial garden.

Across from Tiananmen Square is the ultra-modern National Center for Perfoming Arts, a beacon of the city’s culture so impressively displayed at the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the Bird’s Nest Stadium.

To its east is the UNESCO World Heritage listed Summer Palace, a lakeside retreat of emperors, while also UNESCO listed is the grand Temple of Heaven in Chongwen district, where remnants of Ming dynasty city walls are visible. Nearby are several hutongs, narrow alleys with traditional architecture, that contrast with wider, modern roads like Beijing Financial Street, the city's business area.

The most popular Beijing shopping street is Wangfujing, and other must-see sights include the giant pandas at Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall of China, an easy day trip from Beijing.

As you would expect from the capital of the world’s most populous country, there are a good number of 5-star hotels in Beijing on Booking.com, mainly in the Dongcheng and Chaoyang districts. There are also several hotels near Beijing Capital Airport in the northeast.

The grand scale of the buildings and the massive squares are difficult to image unless you see them yourselves. Lots of history and culture. Best thing is that you can reach to most of the famous destinations by taking the subways. Taxi fares are inexpensive in China. Going up to the Great Wall was quite an experience. One advice is do the travelling when the kids are in schools to avoid the crowds.

I was partly for professional reasons in Beijing.

I was partly for professional reasons in Beijing. As far as the sightseeing goes, Beijing has a number of world-renowned landmarks like the Great Wall, Tianmen Square or the Forbidden City. But expect incredible crowds at any tourist spot, which can spoil the pleasure. I recommend booking a guided tour via the Internet, which avoids getting lost and optimizes the value. Otherwise be prepared to stand in lines for hours without any clue where to go.

In a big city, public transport is not meant for a family with a baby. Most of the subways have no escalators either up or down during interchanges. You need to carry the pram up and down. Most of the tourist attractions' drop-off points are far away; for instance, we walked nearly 1 km to reach the National Museum. Further more it is very crowded even during off-[eak seasons. Expect a long queue under the hot sun during summer visits. Not recommended to come with family during Summer - it is very hot and travelling on foot can kill you.

Historical sites are the most important as Tienammen, Forbiden City, Lama Temple, Temple of Heaven,... Beijing ZOO is also interesting. Many places are free entrance for people after 60 years old. I recommend to have local SIM card. The metro (di tie) is easy and fast. You need a Yicatong card which is refundable. There are many shops (7/11 or local). The most comfortable payment is the Alipay. You need it!!!

Lots of interesting places to visit indeed.

Lots of interesting places to visit indeed. But too crowded, and very stressful if one is commuting by metros. Just remember metros stations interchange can be a very long walk and at some stations there are no escalators or lifts - lots of stairs to climb up and down. May be plan the visit to Beijing during low season Nov - Feb? when there isn't too crowded with local tourists, hopefully!

I booked this hotel because I was travelling to Japan and had a 12-hour layover in Beijing. Staff were lovely. Room was comfortable and good size. Staff arranged airport pickup and drop off (with a fee). Free coffee in the kitchen. Really happy with my stay that I’ve booked a room again for when I’m travelling back home to UK because I have another long layover. See you again soon.

The deposit for this hotel is relatively high. I stayed for 6 days 5 nights, i was asked for 4,000 yuan deposit. Overall, it's a nice hotel.
