The hotel is beautifully designed. The pool has an enchanting view of Cartagena. The place holds a welcoming vibe. The staff is one of the greatest I’ve encountered. They make you feel right at home and helped us have the best stay in Cartagana we could have. It will become my go-to place definitely.

The several pools are simply great, temperature is perfect, ocean view is fabulous, the pool service is amazing. Room service is flawless!!! Even though there are bigger rooms facing the bay I’d highly recommend ocean view, waking up to that everyday is simply priceless. I honestly cannot wait to go back.

FAQs about hotels in Cartagena de Indias

Caribbean History, Color & Soul

Colourful and historic, modern and colonial, local and touristic, Cartagena de Indias represents one of the liveliest Colombian beach resorts. Its character mixes cultures and peoples, including natives, Spanish, African and Arab. Its rich legacy granted its Old Town the recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

When the Spanish founded the city in 1533, the region had already been inhabited for thousands of years. It became an important port for the Spanish gold and a significant political centre. Echoes of those times can be seen throughout the historic centre, in the city walls, the San Felipe de Barajas Castle, and the colourful streets and colonial squares. Some of the best hotels in Cartagena de Indias can be found here.

Proudly Caribbean, Cartagena’s soul gives the rhythm to the streets, and the music coming out of cafés and restaurants is nothing but a physical manifestation of its collective spirit. Follow the beat, get to the seaside, and have one of your best holidays. Hotels near Cartagena de Indias’ beaches will be the perfect stage.

You can reach the city flying from Bogotá El Dorado International Airport to Rafael Nuñez Airport. Don’t miss this remarkable piece of Colombia, Booking.com offers you the best hotel deals in Cartagena de Indias.

Cartagena is very beautiful, however it is also incredibly touristy. It is busy, noisy and is packed with souvenir shops, restaurants and bars. Most of these are really overpriced - I am from London and the costs were similar, which was a bit of a shock as this isn't the case in the rest of Colombia. Honestly, I didn't love the experience of the old town, but I did spend a day sailing on the Bona Vida catamaran which I booked through La French Touch Cartagena at great price. It was a brilliant escape as was a day at the Blue Apple Beach Club, which was great value at $50 for the boat trip there and back and a day by their pool and beach. Without those two beach days I think my time in Cartagena would have dragged as there isn't much to do other than shop and eat in the main town. The best food I had in the city was at Sambal in Getsemani, which was absolutely delicious. The staff were amazing and the food and drinks were so good and not too overpriced. It's perfectly safe for solo female travellers as it's so busy. I walked around at night and never felt unsafe as there are always lots of people around.

The historic centre is very vibrant, lively and full of good restaurants and bars. There is something for everybody ie if you want a nice, quiet meal or want to party. There are also good trips which you can book to take you to local islands. The local beaches are not great ie the sand is not lovely and white as you expect from the Caribbean sea. So expect to have to get a boat to either a Beach Club or on a day excursion to get lovely beaches. We stayed for 4 days / 3 nights and that was enough to do what we wanted to do ie local walking food tour, a day trip to 3 islands and go to a beach club.

The old city is beautiful and well decorated- I've never seen streets with so many things hanging over them! It can be difficult to find food that isn't fried sometimes, but there is a lot of diversity and seafood. Favorite things include: touring the fort, free walking tours, dance class, dancing at Donde Fidel, Bazurto Market, eating new things.

This is a big tourist draw (both in-country/adjacent countries) and from numerous other countries. The architecture of the old city and it's place in history are incredible. If there is a cruise ship in port things get pretty crowded and noisy, especially at night. We spent two nights in the walled city and two more in adjacent Bocagrande. We could have skipped the last two nights and not missed much. Visit Gethsemani...very worth wandering around this neighborhood with a different vibe than the walled city.

Cartagena de Indias — A Perfect Ending

Cartagena de Indias — A Perfect Ending Coming to Cartagena de Indias after the Lost City trek was a complete contrast — from raw nature and exhaustion straight into a city bursting with color, rhythm, and life. And that contrast made the experience even stronger. The Old Town has an absolutely unique character. Walking its streets, you can easily imagine a Caribbean city that has barely changed over time — the buildings, the balconies, the colors all feel wonderfully preserved, almost suspended in history. It’s a fantastic place to wander without a plan, enjoy great food, soak in the atmosphere, and let the city unfold slowly. Cartagena works beautifully both as a starting point for a Colombian journey or as a finale. For us, it was the ending — and honestly, it couldn’t have been better.

Very comfortable and well equipped room, with a great view across the rooftops of Cartagena, giving it a luxurious feel. Responsive and friendly staff via a dedicated WhatsApp chat. Simple check in and out and a proper boutique feel to the hotel. Excellent roof terrace and plunge pool (in the Penthouse suite), given Cartagena's humidity. Lots of great touches both in the room and around the hotel. Excellent location for accessing Cartagena's old city.

Excellent breakfast cooked to order. The chef was skilled and we thanked her for her tasty breakfasts. Johnny and Jason were a pleasure to deal with, and a credit to the hotel. Room was comfortable and clean. The hotel common areas were pleasant to spend time in. I will go back to this hotel and recommend it to others. It’s central location in the old city was excellent for touring.

Beautiful hotel with a spacious and comfortable room. There were some issues with the shower – great water pressure, but sometimes there was a leak and the overhead shower didn’t always work. The staff was very friendly, and the location is perfect, right by the entrance to the Old City. We really loved this place, and the view from the window was great!

The hotel was very in a great location in the heart of Getsemani and 15 min walking from "la ciudad amurallada". Close to restaurants, pubs and places. The room was good if you need a comfortable bed and a shower but the hotel facilities are not the best. Breakfast was basic but good enough.
