We stayed at the Selva Bananito Lodge for two nights over the 2023/24 New Year period.
If nature and the outdoors is your thing, coupled with a destination that is being as ecologically sound and sensitive to its surroundings as possible, then I can’t recommend a stay here highly enough. Various excursions and activities are on offer, we can highly recommend the forest walk and horse riding, Niels was an excellent guide too.
I also opted for a half hour Gyro flight with Jurgen on our final morning. We flew out over the forest to the coast and back to the private airstrip with Jurgen pointing out the extent of their forest and many points of interest along the way, he really is passionate about this land and a good ambassador for what can be achieved. It really puts things into perspective when seen from the air as well.
We could easily have spent longer at the Selva Bananito Lodge as there’s plenty of activities we didn’t get time to do. Even spend some more time bird watching from our cabin veranda.
Finally I’d like to thank Iris for her help, who tirelessly assisted with everything around the lodge and also helped us plan our itinerary in Costa Rica generally.

Beautiful, well maintained property and lodge. Away from the crowd but close enough to everything when you have a car. There is some info from the owners about the different activities in the surroundings. Comfortabel bed. Extensive and delicious breakfast. After a trip of 5 weeks in CR this stay felt a bit too luxury for us.

Absolutely beautiful. Our favourite stay so far. The site is phenomenal - we explored the grounds and loved the nature. The staff were amazing they went above and beyond. Cabin was beautiful and totally allowed disconnection from the world. Lovely breakfast - all fresh from the garden. We loved it.
