Here you’ll find the Altstad, or Old Town, with the impressive Cologne Dom on the skyline.
Visitors to Cologne in February can dance the days away at the Carnival Parade. In December, no trip to Cologne’s magical Christmas markets is complete without a steaming mug of Glühwein.
The charm extends to other seasons as well, thanks to the medieval wonders of the Cologne Cathedral and the Twelve Romanesque churches. Learn about the city’s history at the Roman-Germanic Museum or take a postmodern approach at Museum Ludwig. Whether historic or culinary, a trip to the Chocolate Museum can complete any tour.

We are foodies, so that's something that's very important to us. We were spoilt for choices as there's a street food market every Thursday evening at Rudolfplatz (Meet and Eat) and so many cafes and restaurants to choose from. We also stumbled across several local street festivals, which are well worth seeking out.
Getting around is easy. we stayed near Heumarkt, which has a transport hub for bus, tram and Underground. You can buy a 24 travel pass from the ticket machine (KVB) which allows unlimited travel on all three means of transport as above. Best bit is that to was only 9 euro per day. There's also a hop on/off guided bus tour which goes to a lot of the main attractions for 24 euro per day.

It was our first trip to Germany and had been told by others to definitely spend time in Munich and Berlin, and most told us we could skip Cologne (other than stopping by to see the cathedral) altogether. As it turns out, Cologne is my favorite of the three cities, by far. It is a major city, yet does not feel that way. I loved the new/old architecture, the walkability of the city and it felt very safe. I would definitely stay in Cologne again. Loved it -

The CATHEDRAL! It is huge and magnificent. That's the only thing we got to do,, since we were heading home from the Netherlands/Achen and spending one night near the airport. Would love to return and see/do more!

Visiting Cologne for good part of my life watching great changes of the last 35 years especially in urban development and architecture, turning city into grand long term thinking solutions hub without breaking connection with art and culture of the city that was already in 90's quite indy music and youth fashion orientated. I have had special connection to Cologne all my life.

As always, the thing that makes a trip is the people who I am travelling with, but a trip can be ruined by the location. Have no fear, I found Cologne to be a friendly city with plenty of interesting and spectacular architecture. It felt safe and welcoming. There is a wide selection of bars, pubs and restaurants. The area beside the river on the east side of the cathedral is a great place to spend some time with a beer or an ice cream and watch the world go by.

Came here with my son and daughter for the Euro's. We had a room for ourselves which was good. Was a good location for getting back into the city centre and also Cologne Stadium. 5 min walk to tram stop with frequent trams into town and return. 10 min walk to Cologne Stadium. Hotel was clean with good facilities and staff were friendly. Would definitely consider staying here again.
Fabulous location a couple of minutes from the cathedral and about five minutes from the main railway station. Extremely comfortable room, great shower, friendly staff and an exceptional level of cleanliness. Very highly recommended for great value accommodation in the heart of Cologne. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel but it did look really good.
The rooms and the hotel were clean and well- maintained. The staff was very helpful. Since we were new to the city, the receptionist provided very valuable travel tips such that I could make the best use of my time in Cologne. The restaurant staff that managed breakfast were also helpful.
Hotel is on Cologne Main Station concourse so ideal for someone arriving into Cologne very late at night or leaving early. Due to train problems in Germany I arrived very late so spent very little time there, but check-in was 24/7 and easy enough, and my room was clean.
The location is excellent, and the building and rooms are very comfortable. The service is very good and the people of the hotel were very nice. The restaurant they have is one of the best restaurants of cologne, with fantastic high quality food. We will come back.
