Room was small but super comfortable and everything felt good quality. Shower was lovely- I was alone so privacy was not an issue. Bar was comfortable quirky and quite mellow to hang out in (Sun & Mon nights, not sure what it's like on the weekend).

Good breakfast, easy walk into the city center (or there is a train station (Berliner Tor) about a 5 min walk away if you prefer). Very easy to get to from Hamburg airport, as you take the S1 and get off at Berliner Tor. Lovely modern room and good value for money for a hotel in Hamburg. There is also a Kaufland supermarket about a 10 minute walk away from the hotel, which is very handy!

FAQs about hotels in Hamburg

The Real Venice of the North

With more canals than Amsterdam and Venice combined and over 2300 bridges, Hamburg is an independent city-state with the Europe’s second busiest port and one of Germany's most popular football teams, Hamburg SV.

No trip to Hamburg is complete without a visit to the city’s old warehouse district, the Speicherstadt, and the popular harbour promenade, the Landungsbrücken. The best and most popular way to explore the city is by boat or a ferry so you can truly admire the stunning architecture and the city’s waterways.

The impressive City Hall and the popular St. Michaelis church will awe any visitor and music fans should seek out the Indra and the Star Club, where the Beatles played between 1960 and 1962. For a different look at Hamburg, moonlit strolls in the Reeperbahn will bring visitors through the largest red light district in Europe. Hamburg is famous for its local dishes, the Birnen, Bohnen and Speck, the Aalsuppe and the open-faced sandwiches with cold-smoked or pickled fish. The laid-back cafés of Schanze neighbourhood and barbecues on a beach along the Elbe River are great ways to relax after heavy sightseeing.

The city centre can be reached from Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel Airport and Hamburg-Lübeck Airport using either train or bus services. Whether you’re looking for a luxury hotel, traditional apartment or youth hostel, Booking.com has everything you need for you Hamburg holiday.

    I know Hamburg very well.

I know Hamburg very well. However, there are always new things to discover, and travelling by public transport is super easy. You can buy day tickets for the whole HVV network - excellent value especially for families and groups of 5. A must for everyone new to he city is a visit to the harbour - Maybe do a boat tour around the harbour & visit the new landmark, the 'Elbphilharmonie' (Elfi). I did the plaza tour which was very interesting. Amongst the old warehouses (UNESCO heritage) you also find 'Miniature Wunderland' - the biggest model railway exhibition in the world. It is well worth a visit, even for non-railway enthusiasts, but plan in enough time and book ahead if you can. Take a ferry from Landungsbruecken down the river Elbe to the museum's harbour in Oevelgoenne and go for a walk along the beach. Visit the Alster near the town hall and enjoy a drink and a meal at the Alsterpavillion whilst watching the boats on the water. This is also a good area for shopping. You can also plan visits to the fish market (if you are an early riser), the Reeperbahn (famous red light district), the zoo, the botanical gardens with tv tower (Planten und Blomen), central park with the observatory. These are just some of my favourite places. Enjoy!

Hamburg is full of beautiful architecture, and the city did a very good job of integrating the new into the old. The city is easy to navigate, and everywhere is well-connected by public transportation.

    It is a big city.

It is a big city. In general it is an industrial and commercial city, not a tourist city. The traffic is complicated and it is full of repairs which made the traffic more difficult. No many attractions or sights to see or visit. We stayed 4 days but it was enough with 3 days. Poeple were not kind in general specially those riding a bicycle. We witnessed a quarrel with a cyclist because some youths walked on the bicycle way despite he could ride more slowly. I can say it is a boring city.

Very disappointed with the harbour cruise as commentary only in German and English language app. provides very limited information. As an overnight stop-over we did not do extensive sightseeing. Found a good Vietnamese restaurant (U Kitchen) by the Colonnaden among the vast selection of various restaurants and cuisine choices.

We were there with one 13 year old and one 15 year old.

We were there with one 13 year old and one 15 year old. The only thing they appreciated was Dungeon (which is a recommendation btw!). Maybe our experience of the city isn’t fair due to our teenagers, but we think it hasn’t anything special to offer. Hafencity still has some work to do, and didn’t correspond to how it’s presented on different websites. It’s mostly new buildings, and scaffolding around what might be a bit older ones. The houses in the city center are a mixture of old beautiful buildings and ugly new ones. We did’t find the city particularly beautiful and didn’t really find good shopping outside the boring malls. Not even in Karolinerviertel (for example). The vibe is very nice though! We stayed in St Pauli and enjoyed those quarters very much. It is easy to get around the city! We also visited Miniature wunderland, as it is recommend. It was nice, and worth a visit, but after a while it felt repetitive. IF I go back, it will be with adults that enjoy walking and drinking beer 😊

The hotel is conveniently located near the main railway station (Hamburg Hauptbahnhof), only in 3 minutes on foot. Nearby lots of cafés and restaurants, shops, malls etc. In a 5-minute walk, you can observe amazing Alster Lake. The hotel is pretty small, but rooms are clean and furnished. Nice breakfast with typical European (Germany) food buns, eggs (scrambled, boiled), sausages, cheese, musli, tomatoes, cucumbers, and tinned fruit, coffee, tea, juices.
