Breakfast was great. The house is old but feels like a castle from the 19th century. Tall ceilings and very well decorated. The host was super friendly and asked us what we want for breakfast. The studio where we stayed was beautifully decorated, with carpets and drapes and a nice soft bed. The linens were fresh and everything was very clean. Would come stay again

We arrived early and were very happy that our room was ready. We could drop our bags, change into warmer walking clothes and head out. The room was HUGE and quiet. Breakfast as others have mentioned was delicious and with so much variety.

A Revivalist Triumph

The capital of Lower Saxony, beautiful Hanover has been so thoughtfully planned that you can’t tell it was largely destroyed in World War II. The city is full of green spaces, one of which is by the huge Maschsee lake, where sailors and rowers share the water with pedal boats. In the winter, you might be able to skate there. A smaller lake in the Maschpark closer to the center of the city reflects the grand New Town Hall overlooking it.

The Old Town Hall is in the Old Town where half-timbered buildings were brought from all areas of the city during rebuilding. The square in back hosts one of the Hanover Christmas markets. The others are on Kröpcke pedestrian shopping street, and in front of the station, where the city’s main shopping center, Ernst August Gallerie, is located.

To the north are the incredible, beautifully landscaped Herrenhausen Gardens, bursting with color most of the year. This area gives its name to the local pilsner, Herrenhäuser. There are also colorful sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle, whose work is also displayed in the Sprengel modern art museum.

I was in Hannover purely for convenience to attend a funeral...

I was in Hannover purely for convenience to attend a funeral a few miles away and had no time to explore, but I did walk around that part of the city and found a really nice shopping centre next to the station, a good bookshop (Hugendubel), and several Asian markets to buy orange juice, water and some fruit. All were open during the evening. I should have taken the opportunity to get my nails done at the nail bar! There are so many places to eat but I opted for a takeaway bratwurst & chips. If I'd had longer I would have headed to the Alt Stadt (old town) which I know I would have loved.

Nice, underrated, cozy city with plenty of things to do. Ideal for solo travellers looking for a balanced, quiet-active city. Super walkable and also with fair public transportation (which is expensive in my opinion).

We will fore sure visit Hannover again , with more than a short days visit . We were lucky and lived in the Hotell Alpha, in the butefull and quiet east city side, They have lots of beautiful parks , and especially a park kept as an un touched forest . The architecture of the city offers a wide range og German and European cultures throughout menny hundreds of years. Depending on outher people’s intrest …. At least we loved it . Kind people , grate ALPHA hotel . Just no elevator …. Ok for us , but be aweare . Highly recommended. Have a nice trip to Hannover !

We had a lovely stay in Hannover.

We had a lovely stay in Hannover. The city is clean, green, and easy to get around. There are lovely parks, nice cafes and plenty to see and do. Public transport was excellent and everything felt well organised. Would happily visit Hannover again.

Hannover is a very versatile and friendly city. From history to culture to shopping all together. Das neue Rathaus as well as Herrenhauser Gärten and museum are great to visit. Easy going city where it is easy to feel find “gut bürgliche Küche” (Hannover Wirtshaus) or fine Italian (A Mura). Fiendly staff at both of these places Recommendation to get around: HannoverCard tourist: buy one especially with a group very price attractive and easy to get around. We came by car but left it in a Parkhaus…
