An exceptional boutique hotel. One of the best I’ve stayed in. We had the pleasure of staying in the “Prestige Suite” and we were blown away by the decor in the room. We easily spent the first 30 minutes just exploring every inch of the room, as it was an interior designers dream! However, the best part had to have been the customer service. It was phenomenal and the front desk was extremely welcoming. They made sure we were enjoying ourselves and were available for any questions we may have had. I’m sad I can’t remember their names, but all of them deserve praise and recognition! Additionally, my husband left his shirt in the room and we received an email from Isabell stating that they would ship us the forgotten shirt! Excellent customer service even after we left! If in Heidelberg, we will stay here again without hesitation.

FAQs about hotels in Heidelberg

Fit For a King

Picture perfect Heidelberg is guarded by its famous castle halfway up a hill. If you don’t feel like walking, a funicular train goes there and continues to Königstuhl Mountain whose views are fit for the king it is named after. Dating to the 13th century, the ruined castle has peaceful landscaped grounds to wander, and the Heidelberg Tun, the world’s biggest wine barrel. And big it is!

At the foot of the hill is cobbled Hauptstrasse, supposedly Germany’s longest pedestrian shopping street selling traditional German beer mugs amongst other things. Also here are sidewalk cafes, the odd bierkeller and several Heidelberg hotels.

A short walk west is the Heiliggeistkirche (Church of the Holy Spirit), towering above the Baroque old town. Its square is the site of the Heidelberg Christmas markets, while to the north the beautiful Old Bridge crosses the Neckar River and ends at a twin-towered city gate.

Further west is Heidelberg University, the oldest in Germany and with a national reputation to rival Cambridge, its sister city. Over the river, Neckarwiese is a riverside park popular with students for a barbecue and beer, while by night the city’s many bars stay open until the early hours (and beyond!).

The nearest airports – Frankfurt and Stuttgart – both offer quick access by train to the Heidelberg accommodations on Booking.com

I'd been to Heidelberg a few times many years ago and I remembered it as one of my all time favourite cities in Germany. It is just mesmerising. There's an absolute abundance of beauty, history and independently owned bars, restaurants, cafes, all of which with an incredible decor and delicious offerings. This is truly a place to discover, to relax, to indulge, to enjoy. It's very obvious the locals know how to live life well.

This was my first visit, and I was pleasantly surprised by the city's excellent transportation network and ease of getting the right ticket from the high-tech ticket machines found at practically every stop. But this is something one finds in most German cities of comparable size. As a tourist destination, Heidelberg's appeal is limited. The old town is picturesque but very small, the long and distinguished history of its university isn't easily discernible, and most of the centrally-located restaurants are vastly overpriced. Though disparaged as Heidelberg's 'less pretty sister', nearby Mannheim is far more vibrant and intriguing.

We had an excellent stay in the Atlantic Hotel Heidelberg. It is a modern, thoughtfully designed hotel with outstanding amenities (sauna, steam room, and gym), and excellent connections to public transportation. The breakfast at the top floor featured a wide range of food and beverage options while offering great views of the city. Finally, the staff was very friendly and even prepared a box of chocolates as a birthday surprise! Overall, highly recommended!

Located in the old town of Heidelberg this hotel makes it very easy to walk to the castle or go to the mainstreet for pub crawling or enjoying the many restaurants.
