The City of Smiles, Århus (or Aarhus as it’s now officially known) has been around longer than any other Scandinavian city, so has had plenty of time to accumulate attractions and eateries. Its vibrant music scene and nightlife are popular with Denmark’s largest student population, and the University Park features the excellent Steno Museum and Natural History Museum.
Weird and wonderful artworks adorn the multi-coloured ARoS museum, and artefacts in the Viking Museum are on the site where they were discovered, alongside copies of exhibits from the Moesgård Museum, located in a forest south of the city centre (closed until 2014). At the heart of the neighbouring park is Marselisborg Palace, the Danish monarch’s summer residence.
The botanical gardens are opposite the Old Town, which is not actually the historic centre but rather a colourful collection of half-timbered buildings from all over Denmark, set around a pond.
Shops and pavement cafes line the Aarhus River which enters the sea by the large port which has contributed significantly to the city’s success. Overlooking it are the ultra-modern Isbjerget apartments, resembling peaks of icebergs. Also innovatively designed is the Modernist town hall, and Aarhus Cathedral has the country’s tallest spire and longest nave.
Booking.com’s accommodation options range from beachfront hotels to cheap hostels and apartments near Aarhus Airport.
Lovely city, we were only passing through. Could have stayed longer.
First thing is visit the Tourism centre in Aarhus as most places in Denmark do not have a centre for tourists and rely only on hotels to provide information. It does NOT work.

Great place to visit for weekends.
Great place to visit for weekends. I spent there 4 full days, and tbh it is too much if you want an adventurous or active vacation. 3 days would be great. However, if you're up to calm, relaxing walking tourism, 4 days is a good time period to visit everything and explore the city.
MUST:
1. ARoS -> great unique view from 10th floor, 8 floors of different artists, including classics. You can also rest on the roof benches.
2. Deer park -> animals are super friendly, you can pet them if deers allow. Please do not feed them.
3. Unique round bridge -> good to visit because of deer park, but I expected more.
4. Mollestian street -> good street to visit and take photos
5. 17 walls project -> free attraction of exploring the city and street art
6. Ledberg -> cool place when exploring the city
MAY
1. Old Town -> you can find the same great old buildings free, just exploring the town (for example, Mollestian Street)
2. Steno museum-> science museum, expected more
But it is interesting how danish people attract attention to crucial things , which are usually "banned" to speak about -> some women diseases, contraceptive pills for men, etc. Planetarium is in Danish and no film, so be careful. But even in this format it was cool (I don't speak Danish)
Nice places to eat and coffee / matcha
1. Monk -> AMAZING TASTIEST BAN WITH CHOCOLATE and coffee
2. Hakko -> good place for matcha, was crowded
3. Aarhus street food

The city itself didn't have much to offer, but perhaps we didn't see it all. fairly modern without a many old buildings to see. Sadly the hop on hop off buses don't start until May
We were there primarily to visit the Historic town Gamle By - which is well worth a visit, fascinating.

I felt safe in the city itself.
I felt safe in the city itself. The people were friendly, approachable and helpful. I really liked the park with the deer where we could pet them. Nice beaches, though overcrowded understandingly. Very clean city, very nice forests for long walks. What I didn't like however, was that to get a bus ticket, you'd have to have an app and pay through it (my partner is Danish so he sorted it for us). It was annoying I couldn't pay the driver myself if I ever needed to. Also some places prefer you pay with card instead of cash (which also was kind of annoying as I had brought plenty of Danish krones to pay with).

Aarhus is a beautiful city.
Aarhus is a beautiful city. We should have looked around a lot more, but sadly we didn't really have a the time. Travelling around by bus can be expensive, but the daily ticket is fairly okay.
There are very cool apps one can install to literally find they way around the city easily. Live tracking of the local transports was a life saver.
The city proper is gorgeous! The ocean view and the walk around the shore is perfect. Lots of super cool things to look for. Like the Aarhus rainbow panorama.
All around a great city with good vibes, good transportation and lovely, friendly, helpful people.

You should try swimming if you visit during summer and get a sunny day at the World's largest Harbour Baths! 50 m long pool with sea water. Also small pools for kids available. Moreover a center for Surf Kite board. Superb. Excellent Street Food area close to the Main Train station, when exiting it all the way down to the Docks... You should pay a visit. All world Cuisines present. Denmark is well known for its foodies approach. Great Local Fish food. All coffee shop offer freshly roasted coffee. Great tastes For coffee lovers as the taste is a bit bitter. Worth it. Of course quite expensive. A single espresso around 6 Euros.... Aarhus is a nice small sea side city the second biggest in Denmark with many young people that study there and give a more lively atmosphere. Also coming from many different countries making the place an international spot.

STAY AWAY FROM DANHOSTEL CITY AARHS if you plan to check in after opening hours. We tried that and even though we followed all instructions our key card didn't work and we couldn't get in touch with anyone from Danhostel City Aarhus. They have no emergency number or reply on email/booking.com.
Luckily booking.com relocated us to the Cabinn Hotel where we enjoyed our stay. Therefore, we will recommend finding another place to stay than Danhostel City Aarhus if you plan to check in after their opening hours.
Very nice hotel located in the suburbs of Aarhus. It was just what I needed for a one nights stay.
Easy parking right in front of the door. Loved the check in with codes. After calling I was even allowed to check in an hour early which was very nice.
The room was very spacious and loved the interior.
It was quiet, we could park directly in front of the hotel. We had comfortable beds, the design of the rooms we liked..
It was a really good breakfast - made with love.
Everybody was friendly — we would recommend this hotel for a trip to Aarhus.
The hotel was rather inexpensive for Aarhus and the beds were comfortable. The people at the reception were always really helpful when I needed some information.
