Embraced by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and caressed by the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city boasts a bustling harbour, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built in the 9th century during Islamic rule. Cascading down the slopes towards the city centre, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few kilometres away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cosy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!
Alicante was such a nice surprise! It’s a compact city when it comes to points of interest – the beach, promenade, bars, restaurants, and the old town are all within walking distance. The beach is beautiful, with a gentle entry into the sea, and the city is very stroller-friendly, which made it perfect for a vacation with a small child.
It’s a clean city with great services and incredibly friendly people. We really enjoyed our time there and honestly, we would have stayed longer than a week. I think we’ll definitely be coming back.

It really is a great city.
It really is a great city.
A really great selection of third wave speciality coffee houses, a few of which are superb spaces to hang out and enjoy good coffee.
A compact city which is walkable
Really interesting to walk the backstreets away from the tourist centre.
I stayed in the outskirts two times and i found that authentic Spanish experience really interesting and enjoyable.
I did some boat trips which were great.
Ate a lot of decent quality food.
There are some outstanding churches and the castle is worth a day.
I would happily return and say hello to some of the friends made.

Honestly we we only stayed one night as as stopover to another town. I was there less than 24 hours. I had no knowledge of Alicante before I got there. I was delighted by the old town and the castle, beaches and promenade. Great fun energy.
However, it was very touristy. Lots of bachelor/ette parties and such. But that also means cute shops and lots of restaurants. Not a place to go for relaxation but it was beautiful and a fun surprise. I'd like to visit again someday to see what else Alicante has to offer.

This is a very Spanish city.
This is a very Spanish city. Not much English is spoken, which is OK, because why should they. We managed, through Google translate, to order the right foods in restaurants though. It has a fabulous beach and marina, and lots of little streets full of bars and restaurants. We were only there 4 days so didn't really look at any of the shops but saw lots of people with various shopping bags, so it would seem there is a wide choice. It's a very hilly city - be prepared. There is quite a bit of walking. We were staying about half a mile away from the sea front, all uphill on the way back.

Location was ideal, just behind Alicante food market and five minutes walk from the airport bus drop off! Hotel was quite small, but nothing wrong with that. Room was fine and clean. Staff weren't particularly fairly and didn't really want to engage. Noone spoke much English. But then again it is Alicante, not Skegness, so fair enough. Close to the city centre, the train and to the sea front. Plenty of amenities in the vicinity both shops, bakeries and restaurants. Not much not to like!
We love the Hotel Maya. It is our go-to city break hotel in Alicante. We love to travel on the tram, which is so close, into the city centre and soak up the atmosphere. This trip we stayed close to the hotel and discovered the Barrio Virgin del Soccoro, a street full of restaurants which brings you right onto the beach and a mirador. Perfect for people watching.
Exceptionally clean property! Prrfect location for the city centre and old town Alicante, straight across from the marina and all the lovely bars and restaurants on the main strip. 5 mins walk to the beach. Husband and wife team that own the property could not be more helpful. Very cheap aswell. Can not fault this beautiful little hotel.
Staff really friendly & helpful, nice pool area, great little bar serving good selection of food & drinks throughout the day & into the evening. Although it's on the outskirts of Alicante & by a main road, there are good & regular bus connections to city centre/beach. Would definitely stay again when visiting family in Alicante.
Breakfast was plentiful and varied.
We had adjoining rooms
Proximity to the beach was excellent
Pool area was beautiful
Staff in all areas of the hotel were courteous and friendly
Proximity to Alicante city was accessible by tram or bus
