Surrounded by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city features a bustling harbor, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built during Islamic rule in the 9th century. Cascading down the slopes towards the center of the city, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few miles away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cozy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!

The centre of Alicante is very walkable, plenty of places to eat and stop for a drink. The beach can get busy at the end nearest the city centre but a few minutes walk along is less crowded. There is a nice atmosphere, we felt safe walking wherever we went.

We found Alicante enjoyable - the centre is compact and accessible. It is a working city but with plenty of places to eat at reasonable prices.
The seaside promenade offers a lovely flat walk and the ascent to the castle a much more strenuous but worthwhile one.
Alicante is well-connected to other towns on the coast and inland.
Cheap supermarkets are not easy to find in the centre!

Overall, Alicante has a little bit of everything for everybody. A vibrant nightlife, superb food, and vast history to explore. Best places to visit: Barrio Santa Cruz, Castillo de Santa Barbara, and Playa de San Juan. Best places to eat: Bar Manero (Michelin restaurant), and Sento. The best thing about Alicante though are the beaches!

Best choice for a long weekend or more.
Best choice for a long weekend or more. Nice weather, beutiful (sun)lights, seasalty air, all the palm trees and the beautiful flora makes it magical. The old town with all the restaurants are so charming. You want to try all the restaurants.
Do not miss on going up to the Saint Barbara castle by foot. Only use the elavater unless you absolutely need to. Walking up feels like you conquerd it all. 166-167 m above see level. And free entry, nice atmosphere.
Do not miss on the Mercat Central d'Alacant if you're interested in looking at the freshly caught beatiful sea creatures. (this sounds weird, writing it down, but you know what I mean)
Just walking around is fun.
Ahh, and as for gastro:
gelato at: Livanti Gelato Di Sicilia,
drink: Tinto de verano (wherever you can),
breakfast: toastada con tomate y jamón, yummm

We have stayed here four or five times. Its great for us as its near the beach, huge supermarket within walking distance, Restaurants and bars are nearby. Its near a Tram station so Alicante City centre is only 30 mins away. This isn't Benidorm with endless bars and cafes etc and that helps to keep the area quiet. Maya, the lady who usually manages the apartment is an absolute treasure and a lovely person. Very highly recommend this apartment for a quiet location but easy to get to more lively places if you want that.
Location is great, short walk to the main city, great restaurants close by.
Clean, welcoming hotel with helpful and friendly staff, especially Florence on reception/coffee shop. I travelled on my own to visit my mum in Alicante hospital. Florence made me feel very welcome and asked how my mum was each night on returning back to the hotel.
Coffee/cake and food in the foyer was fantastic. Best iced caramel latte I have tasted 😁
Buffet breakfast great choice and regular refilled.
nice hotel, nice breakfast on the roof. Of all the hotel options I considered, this one was the best - because there are no restaurants under the building, and this is quite rare for a noisy city that lives at night.
But in any case, you will sleep with the windows closed if you want to get a good night's sleep. However, you already understand this when you go to Alicante, which is full of life until 2-3 am :)
I had a nice stay at this hotel . Price/quality was the best for this area . Not really close from Alicante center but you can use car/tram for the city .
Breakfast was really good with many choices . The room was clean and very spacious .
The bed was very comfortable .
Our favourite hotel in Alicante. Large comfortable bedrooms with a sofa seating area. Exceptional breakfast and such lovely helpful staff. An absolute bonus in a city was the onsite parking at just 10 € a day. We'll be going there very soon for a mini break.
