The birthplace of Picasso is as colorful as an artists palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and youll find your place among the youthful square of the old center, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.
There's also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.
A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga 's most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 6 miles from the center of town.
From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you're sure to find the perfect place to stay for your sunny vacation.

Mass at the cathedral was very soothing even though I don't speak Spanish.
Lunch at The Canasta was good. Well priced, the pastries are delicious.
Dinner at Divinno or Meson Cervantes won't disappoint.
The old town is a hive of action at night.

Malaga is a great city for a short break.
Malaga is a great city for a short break. There are lots to see, things to do and shop. We did a tapas tour, visited the Alcazaba, Malaga Cathedral, the beach, the marina, a tour to Ronda/Sentinel and shopped. Food was excellent too. Try the oxtail - delicious!

At first glance, Malaga seemed a bit kitschy, but that impression quickly changed once we started exploring it properly. The city is full of beautiful architecture and stunning views. There are plenty of vegetarian restaurants serving delicious food, and the tapas bars are excellent. Malaga is a hot and charming city, though best suited for a stay of no more than a couple of days. One downside is the confusing bus ticket system – there are few machines, it's unclear how to buy tickets, especially at night. Also, many people are not very willing to speak English, which can make communication a bit tricky.

This was a business network retreat for my group, I wanted to show them the real Malaga, so many people fly in then scoot off up the coast and miss the heart. Malaga City has the most beautiful Architecture, and so many sights and small streets that are easy to miss so I organised a local Tapas tour - our guide was amazing, fun and informative, and SO much food!
We also went to the Herradura coffee and fruit farm - an absolute Gem!
We ate at the smaller Artesian caffes full of beautifully fresh local foods., definitely recommend BYOKO for breakfast!
The Marina is a beautiful place for a sunset drink but would not eat there again.
Getting around is easy by local bus, train or metro, and taxi's are very reasonably priced.
The beach is a gritty texture, but more authentic than further up the coast.

Only booked to stay in Malaga because travel logistics to and from Seville were nightmarish … and had my opinion completely transformed by finding a perfect little oasis on the edge of the old town from which to explore. Loved just wandering the streets, dipping in and out of museums, and gardens and markets. Definitely need to come back as ran out of time well before we ran out of things to visit!

Málaga is a wonderful city, the vibes are great! Extremely clean, many things to do/see and full of restaurants, cafe, and bars to choose from to enjoy traditional Spanish cuisine and more.
It’s got it all from commercial shops, boutiques, historical monuments, art, colours, music, sun, an amazing long beach, entertainment, functional public transport, parks, a beautiful port with a lovely walk along the beach to helpful locals. One could not ask for a better place. We will definitely come back.

Fantastic location, a stones throw away from the main strip of Malaga, close to old town Centro and short walk. Also close to metro station and 10-15 mins walk to main Malaga station. Nice hotel with clean and big rooms, and we even had a small balcony that was lovely. Access to pool and gym was handy on our big trip. Staff were friendly and helpful, and encouragement of reusing towels and option to skip room clean for the day and obtain a drink voucher is a great way to encourage sustainable measures.
Indeed, this is a charming boutique hotel. We praise the friendly, helpful service given to us by Naomi on reception. She was brilliant with us. The area was great for us. It is in a quiet up market residential area. Just one small hill to climb to the Hotel. Taxis are pretty cheap and there are plenty available. No need for Uber or Bolt. 10mins walk to the beach 20 mins walk to the port and 30 mins to the old town. Our bed was a great size double but our bathroom and shower a little small.
Fantastic experience overall. Hotel is located at the best spot in Malaga, in the heart of the old town with immediate walking distance to all top spots in the area (Picasso Museum, Cathedral, Alcazaba, tons of restaurants etc.). Very original and luxury inside, super comfy and with reat and helpful staff.
Nice large comfortable room, lovely balcony with superb view. Location 20 minutes walk from old town Malaga but that did not bother us. Cheap taxi back to the hotel in the evening if you prefer not to walk.
