Christmas breakfast was wonderful, especially enjoyed the rice pudding! The room was quite large, and it was great to store our own food in the fridge and also warm up some mulled wine in the microwave. The whole building was very tastefully and recently renovated.

Room is very clean, TV has mirroring capabilities from mobile phone (could use youtube), Everything felt very quiet. Even being right next to the train station, we could hear nothing from outside the room or hotel. No experience of breakfast as we were too tired to get up before 11. Excellent choice if you know you'll be exhausted the day after and have to catch the train as you can just cross through the yard and get directly to the train station. Excellent hospitality from staff whether it came to providing extra towels or glasses. You also get ice cold tap water from the sink, which is always great! The room was nice and cool on arrival.

A Dynamic and Fast-Developing Industrial Town

Nestled between Lake Näsijärvi and Lake Pyhäjärvi, Tampere has integrated its industrial past with a dynamic and fast-developing future. These changes are reflected in places like the old Finlayson works complex which was once a mill, now redeveloped with several bars, museums, shops and cinema, all along the banks of Tammerkoski rapid.

Tampere has several attractions and landmarks including the Särkänniemi Adventure Park which features the Näsinneula tower and a revolving restaurant. Get a look behind the history of Tampere at Museum Centre Vapriikki, other interesting attractions include the Pyynikki Observation Tower, Tampere Lenin Museum, Tampere Central Square, Vanha Kirkko and the charming Laukontori Quay.

Several restaurants, cafés and bars are scattered throughout the city. There is a unique Viking-themed restaurant, restaurants serving traditional Alsatian cuisine, mustamakkara (blood sausage), and other international options such as Tapas or noodles. It is a beautiful and clean city.

It is a beautiful and clean city. The weather was also very good between 8–11 June; unfortunately, it changed on 12 June and was not as enjoyable. The nearest shopping mall, only a 5-minute walk away, offers a wide variety of shopping options. The buffet restaurant is worth a visit as it offers good value for money and generous portions of food. If you prefer self-catering, there are many shops in the mall, including our good old Lidl. There are pleasant riverside walks nearby, along with several restaurants and cafés. Hameenkatu 25, a local microbrewery, is also worth visiting, although I found it a little expensive compared with prices in the UK. A lake cruise and a visit to one of the nearby saunas are also enjoyable activities. Taking a short train journey (about one hour) to Hämeenlinna could also be added to your list of things to do. There is also an airport shuttle (Bus 103) that operates in line with flight arrivals and departures. You can use Apple Pay or any major credit or debit card to pay by tapping on the shuttle. The shuttle is both convenient and cost-effective.

I Loved the city center and rapid.

I Loved the city center and rapid. The red brick buildings are breathtaking. The city watch towers are amazing. The forest right at walkable distance from city center amazed me. I loved walking up to the Alexander church and cemetery turned park nearby. Tampere is a must visit. I discovered an Indian restaurant Nanda Devi, it was awesome, they know how to make food delicious and spicy. Trams are love and so easily accessible. Just download Nysse app and a;ll info is there.

The building is outdated, overused and unfresh. Naked chipped walls, bad lighting, no interior decor, no plants, sad furniture. Clearly understaffed. Tired, angry, nervous, rude staff. Experienced that overall: at the restaurant, reception, cleaning personnel. The SPA area is small - one large swimming pool and overloaded.

The only thing I liked about Tampere was the Moomin Museum (the reason I went there). I spent a day walking around, but honestly, there just wasn't much to see. The buildings were very industrial.

The city is rather compact - everywhere is easy to get. Many cafes and restaurants. Places of interest interesting and informative. We did not use public transport, distances are rather short to walk.

We found the city rather underwhelming from a tourist’s perspective. The overall architecture is quite bland—most buildings lack character, with only a few exceptions that stand out. The city center restaurants were overpriced and offered mediocre quality, which didn’t match expectations. During our stay, extensive construction works made driving and navigation frustrating. While Tampere may offer a comfortable lifestyle for residents, it doesn’t present much for short-term visitors. There’s a noticeable lack of engaging attractions or vibrant urban atmosphere. That said, the museums were the highlight of our trip. The Moomin Museum was charming and well-curated, and the Museum Centre Vapriikki impressed us with its diverse exhibitions—from games and geology to radio history. If you’re passing through, these cultural spots are definitely worth your time.

The apartment was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for 3 nights. It looked exactly like the photos. It is a very clean, cosy, comfortable and safe place to stay. Really close to the station and everything in Tampere. I would highly recommend this apartment. Communication with the host was straightforward too.

Close to the railway station, Nokia arena and public transport stops. To get to the Moomin museum you do not even need to exit the building! Friendly staff, tasty breakfast. Really a smart choice when in Tampere.
