We were on our way to Spain and needed a one night stop over, it was a nice apartment that we used for one night going and one night coming home to the UK.
Alencon food and bars outlets all shut around 10.00 pm as we found out, getting there too late, we didn't make the same mistake on our way home !!!!

Alencon is a nice short trip away from Paris if you want to...
Alencon is a nice short trip away from Paris if you want to see charming local architecture. Some of Alencon is perhaps a bit depressed, but the historic elements are very pretty. I wish that i had stayed 2 nights rather than only one!

Very enjoyable weekend - strolling around the old town, looking at historic buildings, cathedral, art museum with its gallery devoted to lace making. Beautiful autumnal walk by the river. Impressive castle. Friendly and helpful tourist information office.

Eat at La Suite but make a reservation beforehand. The old part of town and the shops are good. it is easy to get around Alencon on foot. We visit often because it is a good stop over on our way further south

I was there to go to the cour d'assizes and travel around...
I was there to go to the cour d'assizes and travel around southern Normandie. The town was extremely walkable with delightful shops and everything you'd expect in a smallish French town. Les Deux Marguerite shares space with the Chateau des Ducs, part of which dates to the 12th century and has a lovely park. Don't forget Pedro's, the chocolate shop and tea shop where I took afternoon tea and met Pedro's wife and business partner, Huguette. Three generations of absolutely delicious chocolate. There's an impressive cathedral, the river Sarthe and La Briante, a delightful stream/brook that runs by the chateau de Ducs and Les Deux Marguerite. I really need to go back there.

This hotel is long overdue for an overhaul, room needs redecoration and updated facilities.
We have stayed here four times a year for at least 10 years as it’s so convenient for the A28. Perhaps it’s time to look for another option!

The instruction to phone on arrival was answered in French with no response possible in English. With assistance from a kindly local citizen I eventually found the property but the code to the lockbox at the door would not work so I could not enter. The same citizen tried also to make sense of the situation but like me gave up and assisted me to find a room at the Ibis Hotel. I will be cancelling the same room that I had booked for my return journey on 26 August. The website photograph is totally misleading and it should be taken down.

The location was good and it was great to have a secure car park within the property accessed via a sliding door. The staff were very friendly and were able to recommend some places to eat a short walk from the hotel. Given the location opposite the station it was surprisingly quiet at night. The room was comfortable if a little quirky and there was a good shower.

The room was very clean, the bed was large and very comfortable. We had an evening meal and breakfast at the hotel . The evening meal was excellent with good choices available. The breakfast was also very good and we would have liked to linger longer over it but had to leave early to reach our destination.
The staff were very efficient , welcoming snd kind.

What a beautiful house. Right in the town centre. High quality finishes feels like boutique hotel. Welcome owner.. offered us complimentary drinks on arrival which we enjoyed in the lovely garden. Very good breakfast.. you get ham and boiled eggs on top of usual french brecky options. Would definitely visit again.
